I JUST realized this is the only time Takeda failed the wall. JUST Shingo can truly say he's never failed it in competition. But if one were to count the SASUKE 13 Trials and ANW 5 we can say all 6 All-Stars have failed the Warped Wall at some point. BTW. Nagano's final run made me sad. HE WAS SO CLOSE! If only he had like 1 or 2 more seconds!

That time limit needed to be 120 for the men and 130 for the old people/women/children (hell or 125 across the board). That or go back to the original Tackle weights.

Anastase is just not a Stage 3 material. He can own Stages 1 & 2 forever, but Stage 3 is where he'll always stop. BS. Utter BS. He has competed TWICE, the first was his first ever time on a ninja course and the second was made more difficult due to the rain. We simply haven't seen his true potential. Don't know where you get that from. Nice way to contradict my argument.

Since I totally missed Stages 1, 2, and most of 3, what exactly was the time limit for stage 2 that was very lenient? Was it like 150 seconds?

I've... never seen Shingo cry over something like this... He's always so lighthearted that I thought he'd smile no matter the situation. Seems even he needs to have a moment to let it go... Shingo cares especially for Nagano and supports him and his friends, something I find so admirable from him.

Most of the stage was digested but the few guys they showed went about average pace on the first five obstacles, had about a minute left, then cruised their way through with like anywhere from 5-25 seconds left IIRC. The clock wasn't a factor, and the course was only changed from last time by adding the gyakso conveyor after the backstream so it was a very easy stage, especially after how tough stage 1 was

In hindsight I think the way Nagano bowed out was absolutely beautiful, and the perfect way for him to end.
Think about it, he beat the wall, he cleared the course.
So what if he did it 3 seconds earlier? If he failed anywhere on stage 2 it would tarnish the moment because he would be the only fail. If he made it to stage 3 he'd just drop to the cliffhanger.
The way he ended was exciting and glorious. The best part of it was, he DIDN'T FAIL AN OBSTACLE.
A fitting end for a champion.

I agree with you 100%, I was looking for a way to be satisfied with Nagano's result and you're absolutely right. Better to go out not to an obstacle, but to time, which is poetic given he is well beyond his prime and his time on SASUKE has finally ended.

He cleared everything, to me, he's the true winner of this tournament.

For the next tournament, this is how the numbers to be given (Not that it will happen that way but that's how I think it's ideal)
91)Takeda or Shingo 92)Asa 93)Nagasaki 94)Sato 95)Kanno 96)Ravigaru 97)Dreschel (Deserves 99 but I believe that they won't put him higher than that) 98)Kawaguchi 99)Urushihara 100)Morimoto
Hopefully we'll see all of them competing next year.

Well, everyone except Takeda (but even he didn't do his usual cackle).

Back in Sasuke 28 I wanted the decision to be made within not from without (meaning not TBS but they themselves). Nagano was unhappy. He did know he could do it but it takes a lot of his time and energy to whip his out of shape body year after year to perform to peak. He's getting older, his health sucks. Getting within a couple seconds from the end solidified in his mind that he could still do it and he wasn't crap. His confidence was shot after failing the wall so many times. He felt he regressed to his early days failing the wall (remember Sasuke 7 and 8). So while he was disappointed.. he knew it was the right decision. Takeda knew that as well. He didn't have an embarrassing exit, or an "infamous" one.. but one that still made you think.. "he can still do this....". His decision to bow out wasn't completely about skill. It was about motivation. It wasn't there no matter how hard he tried. This way, people saw him conquer the wall, have a thrilling and EXCEPTIONAL fly up that lumberjack.. think about it.. he was the fastest run up that lumberjack.. that was eeeeeeeeeeepic.. and the desire for him to return was still strong. No one wanted to retire the old horse in the back of the barn to get him out of his misery. He left on top. I agree. And this is why I didn't cry. He left on his own terms, bowed out clearing all the obstacles in front of his closest friends and family. I was honored to have witnessed that in person. Failing any other stage would have tarnished that. 100% agree.

The way he flew up the Lumberjack Climb, made me think.."Is this guy really 44? Is this the guy who struggled to get over the wall so many times?". It was just..epic. It'd be cool if he said "I was joking I'm coming back next year" but I think that was the perfect goodbye from him to us. He left while he could still reach Stage 3 at 44 years old (!!)
