So the Vegas finals are being filmed in about a week and, while I didn't want to copy the Sasuke guessing game, I thought it could be fun for the ANW watchers on this forum to make a few predictions or guesses about how the four-stage finals will pan out. You get points based on how close your predictions are to the results. The categories (with my predictions next to them) are:
Stage One Clears: 27 (100 points for being dead on, 50 for being within 5, 20 for being within 10 of the actual number) Stage Two Clears: 6 (100 points for being dead on, 50 for being within 3, 20 for being within 5 of actual number) Stage Three Clears: 0 (100 points for being dead on, 50 for being 1 away, 20 for being within 3) Grand Champions: 0 (50 points for guessing this right)
Last Man/Woman Standing: Geoff Britten (100 points for being dead on, 50 if they're in the top 3, 20 if they're in the top 5) Best Female Competitor: Jessie Graff (100 points for being dead on, 50 if they're in the top 3, 20 if they're in the top 5) Fastest Stage One Clear: Kevin Bull (100 points for being dead on, 50 if they're in the top 3, 20 if they're in the top 5) Fastest Stage Two Clear: Joe Moravsky (100 points for being dead on, 50 if they're in the top 3, 20 if they're in the top 5).
You can copy this format for your entries: Stage One Clears: Stage Two Clears: Stage Three Clears; Grand Champions: Last Man/Woman Standing: Best Female Competitor: Fastest Stage One Clear: Fastest Stage Two Clear:
Of course I wish the best of luck to all competitors from this forum, including GeoffNotJeff but I think the course this year will be deliberately made almost impossible in the knowledge that if someone like Geoff gets out of stage 1 the rest is easy for him and they're down 50000 dollars. This is just a bit of fun and not to be taken seriously but if the staff don't think this is appropriate given the number of competitors that are on this forum please feel free to remove it, although I don't think it's any different to the Sasuke guessing game.

I don't think anybody 3-5 years ago would had expected Drew Dreschel to become one of the most likely competitors to beat or even come close to beating the entire thing. He used to be good, but he's surpassed that. Amazing how some people can change in such little time.

Also, $500,000? Did they decrease it from a million? I remember reading that somewhere but I could be completely wrong, or it could've been a mistake, or NBC changed their minds.

It's still a million. The change was that multiple winners will now split the grand prize, where I think the 500,000 number got thrown out as an example.

Drew and Geoff are the only people to reach stage 3. Drew goes first and falls just short on the last obstacle. Geoff reaches the flying bar feeling confident. Suddenly he stops. 'If I do this I can win a million dollars', he thinks, 'but on that internet forum I said Drew would beat everyone, including me. This is my chance to seal my victory in the prediction thread.' For 30 seconds he thinks through his options atop the bar. Geoff makes up his mind. Then, inexplicably, he dives head-first into the water. After everyone is done consoling him, he checks his phone and sees that his predictions earned him the most points in the thread. With a satisfied smile, he heads home. "Who needs a million dollars when I have 500 points?" he says.

"Who needs a million dollars when I have 500 points?" he says. While atop the flying bar, Geoff realizes a loophole in his plan for forum domination. Taken literally, it says last man "standing." So with that in mind, he finishes the flying bar, and insists on doing his interviews AND stage 4 seated. He asks for everyone in the crowd to sit down as well, as if he is reading a children's book to a kindergarten class. Timing his request at just the right time as he catches Drew not paying attention, everyone takes a seat...except Drew. Geoff goes on to finish Stage 4, and wins the SMF Vegas Prediction contest.

That would be somewhere between hilarious and insane. And only we would ever know why.

Stage One Clears: 19 Stage Two Clears: 4 Stage Three Clears; 2 Grand Champions: 1 Last Man/Woman Standing: David Campbell (don't call it a comeback!) Best Female Competitor: Michelle Warnky Fastest Stage One Clear: Flip R. Fastest Stage Two Clear: Drew D.
So far, the qualifiers haven't been significantly harder or easier than they've ever been, and so I can see someone winning again. Although Vegas might be a different story. But at this point I'd have to see it to believe it.

I'm interested who you think finished Stage 3 that wouldn't finish Stage 4 haha.

I like to think that only 5-6 competitors are capable of clearing stage 4 but I'm pretty sure the actual number is way higher which is a big difference between ANW and the early Sasuke tournaments. I hope at some point they adjust it like the Sasuke stage 4 just to throw the competitors off a little. We know Geoff, David C, Travis, Flip, Ian, Lance and others are all capable of clearing it in the time limit, so there's probably way more.
