okay if there's any pc gamers out there, you may want to take a look at amd's new cards that are soon to be released. They are virtual reality entry cards that will be affordable to the masses. So if you can't afford a GTX 1080 or 1070, and the prices are quite expensive, polaris will be a very good option to buy a new graphic card for i think full 1080p gaming. so anyways, check out the link below for more information www.wsj.com/articles/amd-prices-3-d-cards-to-spur-virtual-reality-market-1464725394

I personally was never a big fan of AMD, have some friends that will swear by them, but I've been a NVidia fan since my GeForce4. I did buy an AMD card for my mom's PC back in '07, worked well, but it was also a low-end card so she could do HD video.
I'm already looking to spend about $2,000 on my next PC, which I've been planning on a 980 for it, but now that the 1070/1080s are coming out, price on that 980 will drop (hopefully), or I'll just go straight for that 1080. Though, I hear the 1070 is blowing the 980 out of the water on it's own, so there's that too.

I usually upgrade every 2 years or so. Started with a GeForce 4. I'm not against AMD, but I just happen to like what Nvidia has when it comes time to upgrade.
I'm on a 760 right now, so if the 1060 shows similar increases as the 1070/1080, I may consider it. Depends on what will be out by Fall/Winter.

Amd announced the rx 480, which allows you to game in VR premium. Thats something that only cards from the gtx 970 and up can do. Also, in a 2 way configuration of this card, it crushed the gtx 1080. The best part is that it is only 200 dollars, same as the polaris. If that card lives to the gamers expectations, nvidia is dead

Also, in a 2 way configuration of this card, it crushed the gtx 1080. 2-way crossfire beats out a single 1080? That's not much of a feat. If it did so as a single card against a 1080, then it would be something to consider, at least in terms of power. Otherwise, in terms of pricing, you're looking at 2 RX 480s for $400 instead of a single 1080 for the same price, and you'll be getting the same performance. So far, the RX 480 has been surpassing expectations as a successor to the previous line of AMD cards, but it's still a disappointment in comparison to the 1070/1080. It's got some good benchmarks on power consumption, vram, and memory bus; but until AMD releases the NDA at the end of June, we won't have the full picture. If I'm going to spend my money on either the RX 480 or the 1070/1080, then I'd rather take the option for all that power in a single card rather than two.
