Also, I can't wait to see him in Sasuke 33!!! Woah did I miss some news? Is this confirmed or is this projection? If the former, I'm stoked. Projection. 33 isn't even officially confirmed.

Projection. 33 isn't even officially confirmed. 33 has been confirmed.. about 3 times and last one with the Esquire/TBS multi-year deal. It is also the 20th anniversary. My hope is that since this year Geoff couldn't go that next year he finally will. Heh.. it would be cool since Nagano had the same thing with Sasuke 6 where he was invited but couldn't go and automatically had an invite for Sasuke 7. LOL We'll see though.. I've seen stranger things happen. Oh and before I forget Sasuke's date change was announced the weekend of Tokyo's audition in April (so it was a week before Indianapolis iirc). Plenty of time to move him to either Indy or OK. IMO obviously and I was stunned he wasn't moved given the month's notice. Anyway that's a tangent and it's already over so I need to let it go. I only brought it up because IMO it would have colored my opinion if I was in his position. He made his own decision with his family and I'm happy he did. Whether he stayed in ANW or not I respect him for including everyone in the decision. ANW is losing a real class act. My HOPE is that Sasuke will see him. Considering that he was invited this year.. it would be poor form to not invite him again next year. As hubby put it, it would be great if the defending champions of both Sasuke and ANW ended up coming back for Sasuke 33. I think it would be fitting.

Only just occurred to me that NBC lost BOTH of its champions.
Even more sad that they could have prevented the loss of the more honorable one through better treatment of him. Surprised they still treated him as a loser on screen even after they knew they'd lost/kicked Isaac.
How have they referenced Isaac's departure by the way?

[ I obviously don't know either what happened, but I thought the Sasuke change of date was so sudden that pretty much every regional before Philly had already filmed. Perhaps he could have done OKC but usually they need decent notice before they allow for a competitor to move to a different regional (ie Stratis from Atlanta to Philly). If they could have easily moved him and didn't that's kinda messed up. But Sasuke changed dates late in the game, so as much as I realize NBC is political, I kind of see if they were in a bind. As for Geoff doing it on purpose, I don't think he would. Even if it was a perfect "f-you", I don't believe he would do that. I do think he possibly wasn't as hungry to finish the course since, well, he DID it last year. And NBC has righted a few wrongs since the preseason when they spliced together Akbar's comments onto video of Isaac. They now are definitively naming Geoff the first, and the change in rules to give money to both winners is not a perfect solution but it shows they have listened. Overall, I can see Geoff getting out because of the reality show "trying to force a redemption arc" story, but I don't think he would EVER just go out on purpose. Also, I can't wait to see him in Sasuke 33!!! Again excuse the ignorance, I'm still very new to the board, and don't really follow much of the behind the scenes politics as many of you seem to, but why would it a perfect f-you to NBC? I just don't see why him falling would effect them much at all? I don't either. I'm just saying "IF" it was. I don't see how it could be though.

I'm pretty certain that Drechsel and (possibly) Steffensen will be invited for SASUKE 33 as they finished 1-2 overall. I'd be interested in watching Britten run the course but only time will tell if they will open the window for the Americans. Personally I think that 3-4 Americans is more than fine. In the M9 Period (SASUKE 23, SASUKE 26, SASUKE 27) where they invited 10 Americans, I thought that they just lost the point but I may be the only one who has that opinion. Long story short, Britten has to be included in SASUKE 33.
P.S. Even though I'm not really a fan of the "FIRST FEMALE COMPETITOR TO DO THIS OR THAT OMG" hype, I felt really bad for Kacy. She's been under immense pressure and to see her fail over and over again is a little bit disappointing for us and painful for her. I hope we'll see her in SASUKE 33 again as well but if they're going to invite a female, I guess they'll go with Graff for obvious reasons.

How have they referenced Isaac's departure by the way? They don't/didn't/haven't/won't. They show clips of him climbing the tower/pressing the button/standing at the top (they showed an alright amount for Geoff though more often when his presence was relevant) pretty consistently (if not at least once every episode) which keeps his status as Champion fresh in the viewer's mind. They also make mention of the POM contest where part of the top prize is training with Isaac a few times (where they always give a shot to the ANW truck that has Isaac on the side of it). But they make zero mention of the fact he's not actually competing.

To be fair, I was referring to the audition announcement You won't get that until much much later. Given the past 5 years all announcements for that current Sasuke are done a couple months before the deadline. That's still a half a year away.

I want to see Jessie on 33, also she will only go if she gets to do the guy course. You think that would be an issue for the TBS?

Got around to watching Part 2 of Stage 1 sometime after the NW marathon.
First off, shame on Geoff for making the little one cry!
It's cool that a few more took the safe approach on the Giant Log Grip, and some taking the risky early drop approach. Options!
Awesome that Brett Sims got through the Giant Log Grip after what happened in Vietnam. Bummer about the Warped Wall, though. It's like he's gonna have war flashbacks to Sasuke now.
Jessell Boseman one-footed the Jumping Spider trampoline! He Bunpei'd the trampoline!
I was curious to see how THE MACK / #KingOfObstacles would do when they said he's the heaviest ever in National Finals at 220 pounds. I think he could have landed the Jumping Spider if he took a second instead of rushing right into it. His paper crown is so cheesy, but I like it. Just noticed the tips are cut out in the shape of people.
Najee Richardson on the Flying Squirrel was incredible, and the way he whips his body like that. If there's a Flying Squirrel skills challenge, I think he and Drew would be champions.
Only Jake Murray can celebrate by taking a bite of an old corn dog he pulled from his fanny pack.
The time and pacing for Stage 1 was great. Besides Murray and Stillings, the rest of the finishers were within 15 seconds of each other.
The Propeller Bar's height seems a little too difficult for shorter and lighter competitors (unless you're perfect like Tyler Yamauchi). After seeing the Butterfly Wall in the marathon, I think the ANW Butterfly Wall could work if the placement is right. Keep the trampoline and increase the height and distance of the Butterfly Wall. The rope climb up the wall will also work as a transition to whatever slider obstacle is next, instead of jumping up giant stairs like they've been doing all these years.
The Reverse Fly was brought up in the marathon thread. I think it could work. Replace Sonic Curve with Reverse Fly to a rope. Instead of painfully crashing into the platform but still moving on, the rope adds some excitement seeing if they'll fall short and belly flop to become the Warrior Wipeout, or if they can grab the rope, hold onto it and make the landing, or miss the landing and lose a lot of time swinging back and forth.

I hate how they spoiled who made it to Stage 3 in the Crashing the Course video. Anyone you saw on stage 3 crashing the course did not make it to stage three, they were testing it for that night's run Jessie told me she wants to do Sauske, but does NOT want to do the female/kids/old people course. Question for the more Sauske literate people here, but has nay kid/woman/old person gotten to stage 2 and do they modify it and god forbid stage 3 for them too?

The youngest person to ever clear was 16 and he did the regular course. The only woman cleared back in Sasuke 2 and the walls were too wide for her to attempt the Spider Walk. I have no idea if anything would change now but there has never been any modifications for the 2nd Stage and beyond.

16 was old enough to be on the main course setup, It's 15 and under that gets the nerfed course, although as far as I know still no changes to stage 2 and that's still true today. Although if Graff does make it to stage 2 it's probably just a matter of the wall lifting in regards of her chances to make stage 3

I've been thinking about Snake Run. The angle of each step looks like they had some sort of plan in mind, but the way it's attempted makes it look like an ugly one-sided Piston Road. If it returns next year, make it longer to space out some of the steps. The obstacle would then be designed in a way that makes sense for all the competitors to hit all the steps. Something like this for example. It still looks like a mess, but it makes more sense for what they're trying to go for, unless they didn't know what they were trying to go for. Attachment Deleted
