The first episode was watched by an average of 4 million people with a peak of 5.5 million. That's decent for ITV these days. If this was 1983 (when there were only FOUR channels on UKTV!), there would be 15 million watching lol Heh.. that's how much the USA averages and we are HOW much bigger? Nice ratings!

Yay, great to hear it got good figures arsenette, I wouldn't get too miffed about that quote in the article, they way I read it I don't think it's meant to sound derogatory towards the one and only original , in fact when he says "The Japanese one, it's about the test", given that he claims to be a big fan of Sasuke , it sounds to me more like making an excuse, or fending off the inevitable comparisons .

Pet peeve more than anything.

itv is a free channel on freeview sky and freesat. dressed in union jacks and totally americanised. although they had a better host team than anw, it just to much like anw. thats what put me off applying to appear on the show. if i get a chance i will try get the repeat recorded.

This is the quote that irked me: The most egregious part for me was him saying, "The others are all done outside as well - this is the first one that's been done inside." Chris is either ignorant or making stuff up, because I remember SASUKE 1 being held indoors in an arena.

Not sure I see the comparisons to Wipeout , maybe the 'fun' factor. I think it's everyone trying to compare it to the original, not suprisingly, and for some reason being shocked it's so different. BUt then the same people say they might go and watch ANW ... I don't see a lot of difference aside from the commentary/editing style. Hmm, not the best of reactions from some people, fingers crossed it still gets good figures in the coming weeks, ironically it might be the non-Sasuke general public that provide a lot of that. Slightly more positive review here.. metro.co.uk/2015/04/11/11-moments-which-explain-why-ninja-warrior-uk-might-just-be-our-favourite-new-programme-5145956/

Yea the British public are really strict with what they want to see on tv. They're used to all this X Factor and Big Brother crap instead of awesome gameshows like The Chase, Tipping Point, 1000 Heartbeats and of course Ninja Warrior UK.

Adding to the results, just so people know, from what I remember I would say of the 9 that were cut; 1 failed the curtain (and still made the top 10 but wasn't shown WTF), at least 1 failed steps and I would guess the rest failed the Stones cause there was way more then 5 failures on it in my heat

Never realised that, I didn't even think to count the passes. I did quite like the idea of showing 2 runs at the same time cutting between them at each obstacle change, tho not sure I want to see that for individuals with no connection to each other.
I'm hoping the people commenting on social media saying it's apparently too easy, will stick around until the semi's and the final air, to see how it gets even tougher.
Maybe for 2nd season (fingers crossed..) they need to extend the qualifiers a little to include 1 or 2 more obstacles (then again, if we do get another series, and if I do make it onto it , forget that!!)

If I were to tweak the format, i'd do this... - Split the country into regions (North & South England, Scotland, Wales, N. Ireland). - Hold qualifiers and semis in different cities (Glasgow, Cardiff, Belfast, Newcastle and London). - Hold a 4-stage finals course at an undisclosed location (in the UK of course lol). - Air the show on Saturdays & Sundays to air all the participants in 2 90 minute shows. Meaning 5 weeks of qualifiers then 5 weeks of semis then finals week. - Use music during the runs (make it epic though not all Benny Hill lol) Other than that everything's good

Did they change the obstacles for the qualifying course?

Yes. I missed the ep, but the breif bit I did see had the Jump hang replaced with the rope swing to net combo
