If you could theoretically have five japanese competitors AT THEIR PEAK to represent Sasuke in the USA VS specials, who would you pick? Keep in mind, there are three runs for the first two stages, and four for the third, giving ten overall. My strategy revolves around winning every stage 3 matchup, thus netting tons of points
I would have: Makoto Nagano: Sasuke 10-17. Stages 1,2 and 3 Yuuji Urishihara: Sasuke 24. Stage 2 and 3 Katsumi Yamada: Sasuke 4-6. Stage 3 Yusuke Morimoto: Sasuke 29-31. Stages 1 and 3 Takeda Toshihiro: Sasuke 5-10. Stage 2 and 3

Stage 1: Makoto Nagano Kazuma Asa Shingo Yamamoto Stage 2: Yuuji Urushihara Shingo Yamamoto Toshihiro Takeda Stage 3: Yuuji Urushihara Makoto Nagano Kazuma Asa Toshihiro Takeda If there is a stage 4: Shingo Yamamoto (I know Nagano, Yuuji, and even Takeda may be better here but I wanna see Shingo take on a final stage again. )

Oh this looks fun, and the competitors being in their prime definitely made my choices harder.
Team: Makoto Nagano, Yusuke Morimoto, Ryo Matachi, Yuuji Urushihara, Toshihiro Takeda
Stage 1: Nagano Takeda Morimoto
Nagano and Takeda are arguably the best stage 1 runners ever in terms of consistency and speed and Morimoto has done in the last few tournaments.
Stage 2: Takeda Nagano Yuuji
Again Nagano and Takeda are some of the top competitors ever on stage 2, and Yuuji because he usually does good except for the wall lifting.
Stage 3: Nagano Morimoto Ryo
Ryo has never failed stage 3 so thats pretty self explanatory. Morimoto is almost as perfect as Ryo except he failed the pipe slider jump once. And Nagano obviously because he has the most stage 3 clears.
Stage 4: Yuuji would most likely be the one to run stage 4 but maybe Morimoto in certain situations.

I would personally love to see representation from all the countries that have done ANW/Sasuke events thus far.
A team USA, Japan, Sweden, Singapore, China, Vietnam, Bahrain, and UK (minus those that aren't officially affiliated).
That being said, my team Japan would be:
Morimoto Stages 3 + 4 Yuuji Stages 2 + 3 Ryo Stages 1 + 3 Kanno Stages 1 + 2 Takahashi Stages 1 + 2

It's hard to say Nagano, even at his prime. We've only seen him do well on earlier and easier versions of Sasuke. The same goes for basically all of the all-stars. I certainly wouldn't have someone like Nagano do stage 3, especially because he doesn't build replicas and Stage 3 has become just as much technique as it has strength/endurance. I could see him maybe on stage 1 though, especially because a lot of the new stars are super inconsistent on it.
I don't think Kong is a top 5 Sasuke competitor, but his record on stage 2 speaks for itself. It's flawless aside from swap salmon ladder BS.
Stage 3 is easy... cliffers, Shinya, and Morimoto stand the best chance. I'd personally go Morimoto, ryo, and Yuuji in that order.
Final stage is tough... Not sure, but with my list I have all 3 champions who all won via climbing rope, so any of them should be a good fit.
Stage 1: Nagano, Morimoto, Kenji Stage 2: Kenji, Nagano, Morimoto Stage 3: Morimoto, Yuuji, Ryo Final Stage: Any of the champions, but I'll go for Morimoto.
That being said, Morimoto isn't even IN his prime yet. We havn't even seen his full potential. I'd say Yuuji is in or hovering around his prime, while Ryo has some room to grow like Morimoto. Nagano and Kenji I think are past, but Kenji only barely.
The only visible weakness I see in my list is Morimoto on the second stage, but he's obviously not BAD at it... he just has a bit of trouble with the heavy lifting aspects. Nagano in his prime should be able to do the second stage. And perhaps Kong on stage 1.
I think Kawaguchi, Asa, Hioki, and Kanno are all great choices as well, but we havn't seen them on the final stage and 3/4 of them can't beat the current third stage... I could perhaps place Kenji with one of them. Do you guys think the others are better than Kong on stage 2? I know they are all highly consistent as well, so it's kind of hard.
And it may be a copout to list 3 of the winners, but they became winners for a reason.

My USA team would be: Stage 1: Drew, Campbell, Moravsky (I don't care for the guy, but his track record on Stages 1 & 2 speaks for itself) Stage 2: Drew, Geoff, Moravsky Stage 3: Campbell, Geoff, Isaac Stage 4: Isaac

Japan Team:
Yusuke Morimoto (Captain) (Stage 2 & 3) Kazuma Asa (Stage 1 & 2) Hitoshi Kanno (Stage 1 & 3) Tomohiro Kawaguchi (Stage 3 & 4) Masashi Hioki (Stage 1 & 2)
USA Team:
Geoff Britten (Captain) (Stage 3 & 4) Drew Drechsel (Stage 1 & 2) Isaac Caldiero (Stage 1 & 3) Joe Moravsky (Stage 1 & 2) Ian Dory (Stage 2 & 3)
Results by Prediction: Kawaguchi beats Britten. I never see how Kawaguchi does with a rope, but I think i'm expecting too much of him.
