I think this might have been up there with 19 and 22 as the hardest 1st stage. Very good field...17 clears with a lot of them by the skin of their teeth. The Tackle Box really killed it, people were gased before trying the wall.

Fantastic victory for Morimoto the new guy with the green headband impressed me, Kanno climbed out the cch pocket. The all stars and Ryos demises were sad and Takeda impression of playing Shingo's lead was one of the best imitations I have ever seen lol.

nice tournament and I'm happy for Morimoto but at the same time I feel really bad for Drew. That guy lives eats and breaths ANW/Sasuke and he looked really disappointed on stream just now :/

Why'd Drew have two runs on Stage 3?

Why'd Drew have two runs on Stage 3? He turned around on ledge 3 and jumped forwards to the 4th ledge, this was deemed illegal due to health and safety's regulations and since he wasn't properly informed on that he had to run again doing the CCH the turnaround way

Why'd Drew have two runs on Stage 3? That's a complicated situation. Last year Drew was planning on doing the same jump (turning around to face forward) but decided against it. Sasuke guys have been doing it for years and even Yuuji did it in LaLaport. During LaLaPort though it was openly discussed that they didn't want Yuuji doing that in front of kids "making it seem as if it was legal when it isn't". Seems Health and Safety didn't like the process of the body not being stable when it's turned around and the potential for injury was higher when in that position so none of the Japanese did it in the tourney even though they have been doing it in their backyards for years. Drew didn't do it last year so it wasn't even part of the subject. Drew came in this year and turned around on the CCH (like he trained for) and cleared it to the roar of the crowd. Inui immediately stopped him though since it's illegal to do it that way and SHOULD have been communicated by his TBS liaison that it was illegal. There was an awkward moment where there was an argument between Inui and Drew that was very very heated. Drew got a redo and failed the 2nd run (which was the one that was shown). Politically the safest thing to do WAS to show it this way, otherwise the Japanese viewers would have turned on Drew for disrespecting authority for raising his voice (regardless if his argument not only made sense but was right.. just handled incorrectly in the heat of the moment). So by not showing his clear on the illegal move (that should have been communicated by TBS international but wasn't) they saved Drew's image on television and just brushed it off as him not training the legal way by everyone else. Drew told everyone he trained the other way and wasn't comfortable doing the twist in the air. It was best to not show that and have the viewing audience have a negative view on him. Either way it was an awkward situation that would have been avoided if he was told properly that the turn around was deemed unsafe and therefore illegal this year. What's bad is that as soon as he turned around I KNEW it was illegal.. I mean the jump clear was friggin' BADASS but I knew it was illegal. Why it wasn't communicated with him was the real b**** and the argument that ensued made the whole situation turn ugly. Either way, he had 2 runs at it. I'm sure if this were ANW he would have been lauded as a friggin' badass, but due to the health and safety company that Sasuke now has employed, rules have changed. Either way what you saw was the "safest" way of handling the situation rather than just fast forwarding his run or not showing it (like the 3 clears in the first stage that weren't even acknowledged including Kong's run).

Amazing event
It was the experience of a lifetime to be able to watch live and have the extremely rare opportunity to see a new Grand Champion crowned
Thank you again Sasuke Maniac for running the stream another year, and can't wait for the next event

Completely bogus that TBS flubbed letting Drew know the proper rules of the obstacle and screwing him, but the rule makes sense. Or at least, I understand why the rule was put in place. Inui has to play the bad guy because despite the crowd reaction, going against Health and Safety would make it tougher to get another tournament, especially when it's tough as it is to get another in the first place. But this is why you make sure everyone knows how to do it.

Is Drew now on TBS's blacklist? If he was they probably wouldn't have given a rerun, I think this incident was overall pretty minor compared to how things could be based on what I've heard in the past few hours

Good to see at least one of either Asa or Kanno breaking the CCH jinx even if it turned out to be Kanno and not Asa for which I would've cheered THRICE as harder than what I cheered intensely for Kanno. Although I feel like after the CCH, Kanno checked out mentally due to feeling so victorious over that correction that the others were reminding him to keep going because it's not the end yet.

My final thoughts on the tournament are that it's definitely one of the best yet. Watching Morimoto grow up on the course in that short segment before his Final Stage run really hit me emotionally. Kanno crying after clearing the Crazy Cliffhanger was touching, empowering, and inspiring. Ryo and Yuuji both failing the Warped Wall was shocking, especially Ryo for me. Nagano walking down Roller Hill was nostalgic of what he used to do. Shingo and Takeda failing it was the only negative thing I felt about the entire tournament. Seriously, what a waste. 9/10 for me, and I've never labeled a tournament a 10/10.
Also, the Tackle Boxes + Warped Wall is an amazing combo. A dry version of the Backstream + Wall Lift.
