I'm looking for a salmon ladder schematic that uses a wooden frame. I'm building in my driveway so I don't have any place to cement support beems in.

It's not a complicated build. Make a large, heavy base in the shape of a square, then just add uprights with rungs about one foot apart. Remember to never buy blueprints for these obstacles.

I had that much figured out but I'm looking for more details. How far apart are the beams? What type of wood is best? Bolts, screws, or nails? I can figure out the rest.

It doesn't matter how far apart the uprights are since this doesn't really affect the obstacle. 4-5 feet would be fine. Just enough room to get in there and swing. For wood, I typically used the cheapest wood I could find at my local lumber yard, but I also focused on budget builds (AKA I was broke as f***), so yeah. Nothing ever broke, though. If you want really strong stuff, just ask a sales associate at Home Depot. Keep in mind that stronger/treated wood will likely be more expensive. 4x4's can also be used instead of 2x4's when you think strength/rigidity is an issue. Bolts are typically strongest, but not always practical. Adhesive and long screws are a good choice. I built all my wooden obstacles with long screws. Nails will pull out over time.
