I guess it locks into place when you move it up? It's better than the spider climb at least... even when you're dead tired with slippery shoes at that point, no one was going to fail that obstacle.

The rings do not lock into place they work off an auto belay system. If you ever been rock climbing at a gym you would know how it works. Its a cable system that works off pressure, as the cable goes up the system pulls the slack up and keeps the cable tight. But as soon as you let go of the wall or more than lets say 20lbs of pressure is applied to the cable it will start to sink you back down slowly lowering the climber back to the ground. So the thing here in the picture you can see he is trying to alternate hands so that the pressure is off one side as you reach the other side up faster than you are falling and repeat until you get to the top. However if you were to stop for a second or start to slow too much the cable system will lower you back down faster than you can climb... good luck all.

We've seen competitors hang on and gas out, but they were always locked in place and never started lowering.

God please get rid of the spinning log for the KC region. I'm confused, don't you already have your wish since the spinning log is in Dallas?

Obstacle after the salmon ladder is a little bit different than the flying bar. I guess it would be more like a walking bar or something. You have to move the bar one side at a time since the pockets or whatever are offset and aren't straight across from each other.

Currently waiting in line. Do people usually wait until 11 PM Do you mean the Walk On line? have you already signed your paperwork? have people in front of you signed their paperwork? Because if you haven't signed in you probably didn't make the cut, especially if they're already running. If you were a walk on, and did sign your paperwork, were taken out of the line to run and just idling around in the warm up area then that's very normal. In St Louis I was 12th in line, they ran the first 10, I was lined up and then they started putting some invites in front of the walk ons, then told us walk ons we don't need to stand in that line and they'll call us back when it's time, we got to the union break, waited an hour and the next 10 Walk Ons ran. tl;dr version: If you signed your paperwork: Pretty normal. If they're already going and you're still in the Walk On Line: You didn't make the cut
