here's my friend's submission (he got a call), I think it's a good example of what they are looking for -his personality is shining throughout the video

You're also going to find it difficult trying to compete with the "middle aged white guy that built a bunch of obstacles in his backyard to train" category. Think about it though, how many legitimate "superfans" submitted an application, especially from the mid-west aka the region with the least amount of applicants? Sure you could fake it, but how many people do you think actually mentioned Sasuke in their application videos? Dude I'm not middle age!! I just turned 30! Building a massive backyard course is a quarter life crisis at best haha! However, I am a legitimate Sasuke fan and I even mentioned Nagano as one of my inspirations. I just wanted to set the record straight, when someone refers to a "middle aged white guy with a backyard course" they are not talking about me haha! Sometimes posts can read weird so just so it is clear: I am completely joking, and holding onto my youth while I can still fake it!

I wasn't referring to any poster in particular, in case that wasn't clear, just a broad statement.
Though mentioning Nagano as your inspiration is pretty vanilla, and I mean that anyone who mentions Sasuke is probably going to mention him. I would've personally skirted around that and talked about someone else but I have an autograph from him that I got like... jeez 7 years ago now. Made that portion of the vid more special I think. Though he has been in America quite a few times after that and I wager a lot of people have his autograph by now... but I was one of the first!

Got my autograph from him in 2010, after competing in ANW2. Good times. Still have it, too. He signed one of my business cards.

Some nice middle aged lady met him in that Florida convention and mailed me a freaking framed portrait with his autograph. It was so nice of her! Always wanted to meet Nagano though, and Shingo. Still kicking myself that I had a chance to meet Shingo and the shin sedai when I was in Tokyo... bleh.

Ahahahahahaha and yeah she got everyone who asked her an autograph as well. I have one sitting in my room from that same trip!

Ah wow. She hasn't been around since the g4 forums afaik. We were mostly in Webjam together but since that went away we've been emailing each other. She'll be with me in Japan as she's planning her trip around mine.

So much for NBC wanting higher ratings. LOL If the casual viewer sees all of those things it's not going to be in the long run for the health of the show. What's the point if either they are injured and can't go to Vegas or can't pass the obstacle and still not go to Vegas? I understand people wanting the show to be "difficult" but the bitchstorm last year was the course was considered impossible and thus not a point to watch. So if they are already starting in Regionals I can't imagine the shitstorm that will happen in Vegas... provided anyone of quality manages to hobble in there injury free. This is supposed to be an entertainment show.. not UFC. Sounds like you've polled every fan. Oh wait, no you haven't. I literally just got a warning because I cleverly said her "fact" was an opinion. So much for having a voice if you're not a mod.

Difference between disagreeing with someone and being a prick about it. You call it "clever," some call it being an a**. Put it up with the person who felt the need to report you. And no, it wasn't who you think. Want to talk about it, do so in private as opposed to being a child trying to start something in a thread (that would be technically off topic, mind you).

Why don't you abuse your Mod powers and just ban me? This isn't a democracy. Do it.

Mods, I apologize for this ahead of time. If you feel the need to warn me, or put a strike on my record, I understand. Robby, your comment wasn't cleverly saying anything. "Sounds like you Xed. Oh, wait, no you didn't" is not clever. It's middle school drama causing at its most cliche. If you have a problem with someone, don't dress it up, say it how you feel it. Don't try to be clever, and then use "clever" as a back-up when you get your wrist slapped. If you think she's stating an opinion as a fact, just say that, and explain yourself. Being passive-aggressive isn't going to get you very far. Even people who agree with what you say can be put off by your delivery. Well, anyway, that's all I intend to contribute to this fight. I apologize if it seems I'm attacking you. I'm not, really. What I'm attacking is your delivery, and your reaction to the consequences of that delivery. I hold nothing against anyone on here as a person.

Yeah that video is EXACTLY what they are looking for. I don't think you need to overthink it too much predicting what category you'll be in etc. He showed skill, on screen charisma, and was giving them a ton of quick sound bites, making their job easier. And nice harmonizing too lol!

And yeah they're gonna thow huge numbers out there to create hype as far as how many people applied. But if 30,000 people signed up much less than that actually sent in videos, and of the videos sent in how many were actually something they'd consider. I'd guess a large number were either really weird, or were just people acting dumb, filming a video selfie etc.

It could be lower in the sense that, as you said, it's much easier to sign up for an email notification than it is to film a video and go through the tedious 5 page submission process. On the other hand, how many people even bothered signing up for that email notification thing? I didn't even know about it.

I seen a bunch of videos that people posted 5+ minutes long. Considering they said keep it less than 3 minutes, I wonder if they even considered those people or just said there's too many already to consider anybody that didn't follow video specs.

I had a chance to see Dustin Rocho 2 days after Venice. He did mention about Someone broke his leg during the weekends. Poor Brian.

Competitors trying out the Butterfly Bridge practice trampoline. It still looks scary and unpredictable. Some of the obstacles in action.
