I can't believe a year has gone since I first started to talk about this. I decided to put a post up on my blog as it's almost time for me to start working on a very specific project that I've been planning on for a while now. The first of which should be coming along in the next month. I kept getting questions so I figured I finally should get a post up so I can refer to that as I go on.
Oh I didn't expect anyone to write on this yet. LOL Thanks I'm working on the calendar this week and most likely will be available by early next week. Just getting last minute pics and permissions, yada yada. The first thing of anything always takes the longest to get off the ground.
So arsenette, are you going to sell the book on a major retailer or just online?
I'm doing it online for now. Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Kindle Store, etc. I will be doing both digital and physical book formats. There is talk about expanding it to other regions and in Japanese but first thing is first: I need to write the original book first. That won't be until late 2015 after (and I'm being hopeful here) I get back from Japan. It honestly depends on how much content I can cover.
Btw seems the website has a 50% off sale going on now. Not sure if that goes for people ordering or people like me who are selling. Either way it's listed here and expires tomorrow night.
Also I added Amazon Affiliates to my account (some people might have seen the ads up top of my blog. If you end up ordering anything through Amazon and go through my site (using the links) I get a (very) small percentage (Gift card). So just a thought for those who are interested.
Those who follow me on twitter will have followed the hilarity with the pitch video woes I've had all week.. Anyway, it's almost done but I can't set up the Indigogo without the account information. My bank is taking forever setting up my online banking for the new account so I have to wait for that (I can't link up indigogo to the bank or even paypal to the bank). Once all of that is set up I'll post the crowdfund. Wish me luck!
Edit: It was my own stupid fault! I didn't type certain numbers in (had wrong ones..) anyway that set up is done and I'll go live tonight (will have hubby take a look at it when he gets home just to make sure I didn't screw something up). Video is up on my channel if you are bored.. (that's the 4th video I did.. LOL and no I'm not kidding......)
I'm not sure if this is feasible, but maybe a "merchandise mule" perk -- i.e. you buy some of the official merchandise while you are over there and ship it to people. The cost of the merch and shipping would have to be extra, and managed outside of the campaign, otherwise it would throw your budget out. But for those of us outside Japan there's no way to get our hands on the towels, shirts etc.
Additional tier for signed merch?
Another perk might be a photo of one of the competitors with a sign saying hi ("Hi Arsenette") -- but that depends on their cooperation, which you might not be able to promise.
If it actually happens and is feasible for you to obtain, a "grand prize" of the SASUKE 30 DVD set would be an awesome perk! As it's been mentioned, there are bound to be ways to work around the region-locked barrier for whoever would win this perk.
Aww thanks guys! Yeah I was thinking of merchandise and stuff like that. I'll see what I can come up. If you guys think it will work I can probably buy a few things (or have them ordered) somehow. As for signed stuff it's difficult to tell. Would people be okay with unsigned stuff?
