The run schedule was posted on Facebook - and just the PDF here (http://sasukevietnam.vtv.vn/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/THI-SINH-SASUKE-_PR.pdf) 395 names + blank spaces to fill the last group of Stage 1. There are three columns with times. The first is most likely registration; second is when you need to be there; third is taping for that group. Stage 1 alone will take up 7 days; 2 days for Stage 2; final day for Stage 3 and 4. If the placeholders and 6th column for Stage 2 are to be taken as is, then it looks like only the top 40 run Stage 2, top 5 run Stage 3, and top 2 run Stage 4. Don't know what this means under situations like - if no one clears Stage 2/3, is it farthest the fastest; if more than the top clear, are they cut off; if only one person clears Stage 3, do they fill up the second slot; etc. If you get to choose the path, then most people might avoid the Jumping Spider. I'm leaning toward the Stage 1 path being chosen for you before/during your run to keep you on edge.

I wanted to add that one of our socal training buddies Ben Quan traveled to Vietnam in order to compete in this competition. He ran the qualifiers the week after Venice and passed so he'll be competing in the finals Cool I want pics!!!!! Stage 1 alone will take up 7 days; 2 days for Stage 2; final day for Stage 3 and 4. Okay that is what I was quoted since you know who is trying to work his schedule around it since going back and forth between different productions in different countries. I thought 5 but they have 7 days allotted. Man that's a crazy schedule. I am however looking forward to what this looks like. We do expect there will be no reruns nor practice shots through the course for a day and a half.. LOL

He ran the qualifiers the week after Venice and passed so he'll be competing in the finals According to the schedule, Ben will be running in the second group on day 1! If it's not too much to ask - was Ben originally born in Vietnam? This may help with future foreign applicants.

I'm looking through some older articles on the site and there is a mention of 40 for Stage 2, 5 for Stage 3, and 2 for Stage 4. As before, no clue concerning specific situations.
Something of note - the run schedule for day 1 shows two groups of 21 while all other groups have 31; under the second time column about when they need to be there for day 1, there's a second time and date listed pointing to the day before day 1 competition, the two words translate into rehearsals. I don't know what this could mean if it's just for those first two smaller groups.

Hmm that's interesting how the schedule is all over the place. Still though the 5-7 day schedule for Stage one is already being accounted for. Still no idea how they are going to decide the split. I hope they don't change things by allowing people to rerun stuff like in the ANW spin offs thus far. Thanks for checking in on that as much as you can. I know I won't be able to get much out of him. It's still a couple of weeks until he leaves anyway so it's not like he's there yet. We have still 3 weeks until the actual competition so a bunch of things are still probably being set, especially since you mentioned that they just added another qualifier that was not originally accounted for. Curious how many last minute (or even foreigners) will try out in that one now that we have more official information visible.

Cool I want pics!!!!! I wish we had pics of the course to post, but all of his updates are of him playing around the city making up obstacles to train on, or eating tons of Vietnamese food LOL If it's not too much to ask - was Ben originally born in Vietnam? This may help with future foreign applicants. I'm pretty sure he was, and I think I remember him saying he was also a Vietnamese citizen (dual citizenship) but I'll ask to make sure.

About that pre-day 1 rehearsal thing solely for those first two smaller groups of 21 runners - it's for production to get all the format, camera work, flow, etc. set up for the actual taping. What I'm concerned about is if this means they'll be running the course, giving them an unfair advantage.

LOL The other thing as well is that since the crew (Vietnam's) is new to doing this they can take a small group to learn from (how to record) with a less pressure group that they don't expect to pass? That's my guess.

Ben Quan confirmed with me that he is NOT a Vietnamese citizen. I guess that's not a requirement.

Interesting. Good luck to him though. However that does open the door for people who are willing to shell out the cash to fly to Vietnam for that last qualifier. I was told it would be a local event but I guess that doesn't matter to the Vietnam local committee (who ultimately run the event - it's their call). Heh.. if anyone from here flies out there or finds out they can go.. Good luck!!

Yen, do you know how he got to compete? Like was there an application period all the way up to the event day? Did he just show up and run? Is it too late for the last qualifier?

From an earlier post there is still one more qualifier: The three original qualifiers have finished. Hanoi - March 7-8; Da Nang - March 14-15; Ho Chi Minh City - March 19-20 From this April 1 announcement- sasukevietnam.vtv.vn/danh-sach-chinh-thuc-cac-thi-sinh-lot-vao-vck-sasuke-khong-gioi-han-tai-binh-duong/They've decided to add a fourth qualifier on April 24 which takes place over a single day just two days before taping. I think the final count will be more than the original 140, which may be why it wasn't mentioned.Taping is from April 26 - May 2 with the Final Stage on May 5. I suggest you contact them immediately to see if it's still open and what is required to try out for that day. If you are planning on going out there then you may want to hurry up and get on that list. I'm not sure how they are handling it personally but there's very little time left. Keep us updated if you find anything out. We are also all in the dark so any information would be greatly appreciated! Edit: You have until April 10 (THEIR TIME) to apply so if you are going try.. DOITNOW!

It's April 10 in Vietnam so if anyone was planning on applying, today is/was your deadline.

Seems they got some of the rigging up already (pics are from April 4) and more importantly.. they are using pool liners!
