Talk about Pro Sportsman being what they picked up, uses Danshi Grand Prix as its photo representing the show. Guess we'll hear more about it soon.

What did we expect from the company whose exports are "Ninja Warrior" and "Unbeatable Banzuke"

I dunno... compared to this name those seem great... hell in comparison, 'Ninja Warrior' isn't horrible... it gives the same thought as Sasuke to a place where the majority of people probably never heard of the legends of Sarutobi Sasuke...
Can't really defend Unbeatable Banzuke... that's just them not doing research of what the damn title means (or you know... looking at the logo that says it...)
Battle of the Super Boyz... there is no excuse or defense for that... WTF drugs were smoked/snorted/popped/injected there...

I thought that Sportsman ran from 1995 to 2010. The article says 1993 to 2008. Then again, I'm not surprised considering the title for this incarnation of the original show.

Note that it's only Bellon marketing the show. No one has bought it yet. So there's hope that they will have to retool the show before anyone picks it up. The reference to Cannes is about MIPCOM. MIPCOM is an entertainment content trade show and is held in Cannes every year. France has not picked up the show.
Kinniku Banzuke itself started in 1995 so nothing should be before that year. 2010 was Monster Box only so it doesn't really count.
I don't know how they are planning to market a show that will feature now retired athletes. If anything, the name might be pointing to them doing Geinojin Sportsman, not Pro. Didn't Bellon excise most of the pro athletes from Unbeatable Banzuke?

If you're referring to Unbeatable Banzuke, yes. Kick Target and the like were never used.

Kick Target wasn't part of Banzuke? If you look in the "usual place" there are links to some Banzuke episodes. Several of them show Kick Target, Struck Out, etc. Is that not actually part of Banzuke? The intro to those episodes is the one for Banzuke. Or did you mean that those events were not part of G4's version of Banzuke?

Gotcha. Now that you mention it, I didn't even know that those events (Kick Target, Struck Out, etc.) existed until I saw the original version. I remember seeing pics of a Kick Target replica in the Tokyo Muscle Park, but didn't know that this is where it came from, until I found those links and watched some of the episodes.

That name is so 90s. Seriously, who still uses a "z" to replace an "s" and thinks it's cool?

Still using a photo from Sports Danshi. There have only been two shows so far (unless there have been others which is possible with the way TBS haphazardly promotes things) so that might be hard to market. japancontent.jp/en/member-news/member-news-list.html?ctid=147Other notes: Sushi Wars is not a show in itself. It's taken from a section of another show.

"Battle of the Super Boyz" Never before has a competition created such excitement on screen and among teens and young adults. A legendary competition is reborn with the hottest games and competitors.
