I loved Sasuke 29!!! MORIMOTOOOOO!!!! Lots of shocking results, and the Backstream proved it's worthy to stay in Sasuke.

I was real glad when Shingo cleared. Takeda suprised me and I thought Nagano would time out but didn't expect an injury. Second Stage was good. Third Stage I was suprised Asa and Kanno failed where they did last time. The new guy did amazing.
And KONGU is just a tank. He never failed the second stage and he still keeps that record. Before he started the Iron Paddler I was thinking "hes gonna beast through this". And then when he went... "HOLLLLLLLLYYYYYY CRAP KONGU"

It sucked because I lost my bet! Jk ill get over that. Stage 1 was great, my only complaint is the Hedgehog should have been longer. It sucked Nagano got hurt, that sucked. Stage 2 was a cluster****. Takahashi is the best competitor ever when it comes to stage 2, and him having 4 seconds left going light speed was stupid. The time limit should have been 100 sec. Stage 3 was cool. Morimoto had a great run, I thought he had it! Takahashi demolishing the iron paddler was crazy! That being short lived sucked though but that's sasuke! As for the other two, they'll get it next time. This was a decent tourney!

Liked the tournament overall. Still hate the tank. Doesn't belong there. Happy with the invites. Shame with the way they all drowned. LOL I hope they get a return in 30 and get rid of that tank to level the playing field. Put an OBSTACLE in there.

Honestly, did anyone really care for the Long Jump? Thoughts?

The Long Jump was just a terrible obstacle. Hope they put in something better in 30.

I'm happy that Shingo cleared the first stage, although I'm disappointed that Nagano and Takeda didn't clear. And I'm disappointed that Shingo didn't clear the second stage. Also, file this under "stupid things I notice," but in 16 years/29 tournaments, this is the first time we've ever seen Shingo wear tabi. He wore sneakers in the first stage, but tabi in the second stage. Until now, he was the only All-Star who had never worn tabi while competing.

same thoughts i had about 28, absolutely hated it, was just awful, the long jump was a nice touch but not for sasuke. shame nagano tweaked a hamstring when doing the long jump, and sonic the hedgehog was just stupid looking but was able to make takeda fail it. stage 2 was shocking, you just cant take 45 seconds off the time limit. yuuji failing was a shocker after seeing him swimming far better than in 28, ryo you knew that he would. i say get rid of the backstream for a better obstacle. stage 3 well i thought it was going to be beat, was shocked at kongu failing the cch in the way he did but was well impressed at how he just dominated the iron paddler. did think that asa and kanno would beat the cch but asa whiffed the leap and kanno did not jump far enough. but the surprise of the show was Morimoto. he did a yuuji on the iron paddler then showed everyone how the cch was done (despite the fact he took a good 5 mins break before attempting it)thought he would complete stage 3 when he got past the cch. although we did get punked in the advert about who passed the cch and was on the vertical limit but we seen it was completely possible to beat by morimoto. overall i did not like it. if they do have a sasuke 30 i hope they improve the course. i can see a sasuke 30 being done by september as a second asen qualifier

I liked it, it was an odd tournament though, stage 1 had odd editing (so many cut clears not even showing a bit of an obstacle, including Yuuji...), Backstream had jets too powerful, had it been 28 power or something reasonably in between stage 2's time was perfect, obstacle wise it always seemed to be a speed stage. Loved seeing Kong's domination of the Iron Paddler. But on the subject of Stage 3, maybe I was misunderstanding something but did not like how ASEAN Cup rules meant only the fastest stage 3 clear(s?) would have gone to the Final Stage... (shame no one cleared but glad that situation didn't come up) BTW guys, Morimoto isn't new, he failed the Metal Spin in 27, this is his first Stage 3 attempt, but he started in 18 and competed again in 19 (as above), glad to see him showing everyone how stage 3 is done

If nothing else it was there for internal deliberations but if all cleared to stage 4 they all would have done the final. The timer did confuse a LOT of people.

Ah, thanks for the clarification, they were talking about the counter and the Final Stage and thought they were running Stage 3 with ANW regional rules (just with 1 instead of top 30 or 15), definitely looks like they adapted that "farthest the fastest" rule set

Since they were not sure how many were going to be sent to Malaysia (the strong rumor is 7 for Japan) they did a winner take all thing for Sasuke 29 and only named 1 officially now. (with Lee being the Taiwan rep)

I liked the tournament overall. I think the first stage needs to be made tougher. I think a good amount of clears they should shoot for would be 8-15, but definitely not 21, because that's a little ridiculous. I loved that the 2nd stage was actually challenging in terms of speed again. And Morimoto's a beast. I look forward to seeing him in future tournaments. He was so close to beating the 3rd stage . And I'm glad there's no stopper on the end of the pipe slider lol. And also I was gutted when Takeda and Nagano didn't clear, especially the ways in which they failed.

I enjoyed it, though I have a few issues. The Long Jump can stay or go, doesn't really matter to me. I like the Hedgehog, and I wouldn't be opposed to just having one wall again. But the stage still feels a tad short. Maybe add another quick obstacle. Gutted about Takeda and Nagano. Happy for Shingo. Ho-ly hell did the Backstream decimate, I love it. But that time limit is way too ridiculous, 100 seconds would be much more reasonable, and you would maybe have 2-3 more clears because most just couldn't get past the jets. Though, I wouldn't be surprised to see it go away in 30. Then again, it's officially become one of the lowest cleared obstacles now lol.
Good on Yusuke for getting to the Pipe Slider, was hoping he'd make it. Sad that the other vets all failed at the Cliffhanger again. I feel like they're jumping the gap too quickly. Overall, I'd give it a thumbs up, 8/10.

Stage 1
I LOVE stage 1. I always thought shin-Sasuke really screwed things up making it waaaay too hard and waaay too lengthy. I loved back in the day when the average joe schmo could come up and make it to stage 2. Of course stage 2 has to be the equalizer which eliminates all of the people who really shouldn't be there - and the salmon ladder does a great job of that.
I actually like the long jump... when is the last time we saw the first obstacle actually taking out noteable people? Let's be honest, I think most of us were tired of the steps. They used to be one of my favorite obstacles but they were so overdone.
Hedgehog was cool.
I don't like 2 warped walls...
Tarzon rope at the end is still stupid. I prefer the old rope climb - much more intense to me.
Stage 2
Backstream was cool, but I'd prefer a super strong reverse conveyor belt - it does the same thing without bringing in the water element. Time limit was too short... you had to be MORE than perfect to pass, and even those who passed had only a few seconds left and most of them cheesed the walls at the end. When you have a stage 2 that takes out Lee, Okuyama, Ryo, Kouji, Yuuji, Shunsuke, Daisuke Morikami, Hioki, Wakky, and much much more... yeah it's a bit TOO hard.
Stage 3
Love it! Minus the iron paddler... I just hate watching that thing, it hurts my soul. It is so... awkward. eugh... I really enjoyed seeing Kongu beast it though. Almost looked like a cartoon how fast he did it. Was CRAZY.

If nothing else it was there for internal deliberations but if all cleared to stage 4 they all would have done the final. The timer did confuse a LOT of people. I remember Kanno asking "what? only one person can go to the final stage? what if no one clears the 3rd stage? does someone still go to the final?" "No then it's just over." I took that to be only the fastest time in the third stage could go to the final. I don't like that because for me I think Sasuke isn't a "competition," but a test of one's strength and ability vs. a challenge. I hope the 3rd stage rule of only one guy can go to the final isn't kept after ASEAN because it's kind of against the spirit of Sasuke by making it into a genuine competition.
