No.. the timer and whatnot was used to select the team, however it had no bearing on how stage 3 was run. If nothing else it was there for internal deliberations but if all cleared to stage 4 they all would have done the final. The timer did confuse a LOT of people. I remember Kanno asking "what? only one person can go to the final stage? what if no one clears the 3rd stage? does someone still go to the final?" "No then it's just over." I took that to be only the fastest time in the third stage could go to the final. I don't like that because for me I think Sasuke isn't a "competition," but a test of one's strength and ability vs. a challenge. I hope the 3rd stage rule of only one guy can go to the final isn't kept after ASEAN because it's kind of against the spirit of Sasuke by making it into a genuine competition. Yeah, that was actually what was supposed to happen. It says on screen: 3rd Stage 新ルール クリアタイム最速の1名のみがFINAL STAGEに進出 3rd Stage New Rule Only the fastest clear time advances to the Final Stage. (最速 saisoku means fastest, のみ nomi means only, 進出 shinshutsu means advance) I saw it at the time but only briefly mentioned it on twitter. I was just going to wait and see what happened but since no one cleared there was no clarification. I'm sure it would have went over well with everyone. That's the other thing about Morimoto taking his sweet time: had the others gone just as far as he did but faster, he would have been eliminated, even if he (and the others) had completed the Pipe Slider.

I hope that ruling was purely for this tournament to do with the ASCEAN cup - I will be livvid if the 3rd stage works like this in the next one and more than 1 person clear but only the fastest can try stage 4 lol what?!!

Stage 1: I'm glad more people had an opportunity to clear..... but it's too easy. (Really sad that Takeda and Kishimoto failed that stage 1..... (Nagano was injured so I'll give him a pass)) I say this should be stage 1.... Long Jump/Godantobi (Maybe get rid of the long jump but I don't know.) Rolling Escargot Hedgehog (Imagine being dizy from RE and going against that?) Jump Hang Kai 1 Warped Wall (the 2nd one) Spin Bridge Tarzan Rope + Rope Climb 110 seconds
Stage 2.... I agree it may have been too hard but now the competitors know to swim underwater.... (Yes it could be very taxing to run or workout for a long time and then hold your breath so it's still difficult to swim underwater)
2 choices for stage 2.... (Keeping the backstream) Cross Slider Swap Salmon Ladder Unstable Bridge 2 boards Current Spider Walk Backstream Passing Wall (even though I prefer wall lifting) 105 seconds....
OR Get rid of backstream Cross Slider Swap Salmon Ladder Unstable Bridge with 2 boards Spider climb but with a low exit only... like the original spider walk... no jumping out so quickly.... Metal Spin Passing Wall 95 seconds
Stage 3. WTF is up with the long rests? I agree you should get rests but damn. Keep it the same but 30 second rests. But you get 1 minute rests AFTER you complete the CCH and Vertical Limit. Not possible? Maybe but I doubt it. Also wtf with 1 person going to the final? Better be a 1 time thing.
Stage 4. Please don't give a stupid time limit (high or low). That is all besides the fact that only 1 person can take on the final. That's just dumb.

So I did follow things correctly in regards to stage 3 and claring?

Robby the final stage has been confirmed to be 30 seconds so no need to worry about that!

Was happy that Shingo finally cleared the first stage but was sad that many failed that absurd back stream in Stage 2.

After waiting about 8 hours in the Chat Room, I really feel SASUKE 29 was worth it. I beleive the Long Jump should be removed due to Nagano having just a slight injury on it. That could lead to even wrose injurys. Hedgehog... was pretty difficult considering some of the people eliminated by it. But I don't see it staying long. Rest of Stage 1 was pretty good. But I think the difficulty will be increased to due to the "excessive" ammount of clears. Stage 2, time limit was too strict in my opinion. I think they should have gotten 10-15 seconds more. Still if that time was added, we still would only have 6-9 clears. Stage 3: Needs to be a bit harder considering Morimoto was the first to pass the CCH and got to the Pipe Slider. So, one of my favorite tournaments. But needed some improvements.

I thought the Hedgehog would be harder. Considering Hamatani (#2) just kinda sidestepped through it, I expected it to trip more people up... but not Takeda. I also had hopes for Nagano, but it appears his age and the way he hit the landing on the first obstacle ruined his run.
Wakky has more hair! It's just too bad he can't get past the Salmon Ladder in any of its incarnations.
I honestly thought Yuuji's swimming would help him but what did they do with the Backstream?
More tomorrow, too tired because I watched the entire tourney in one sitting starting at 9:00 PM EST.

My reaction? Japan needs to invest in a few more swimming pools.

Yeah the only pools that would help are the surfing wave pools from theme parks, the current in the Backstream was too strong, even Shingo who does surf (meaning he has to be a good swimmer in harsh waters) said it was too powerful

This was my first live brodcast and except for the backstream, it was a pretty good tournament. Just to let you now, my stream of Sasuke 29 did not show the time limits for stages, so I needed to listen for the countdown buzzer. I'm not saying this to be rude, I'm just letting you know.Almost forgot, today is my birthday. Sasuke 29 is enough of a birthday present in my opinion, so thank you all at Sasuke Maniac Forum for letting all of us watch it.
EDIT: Friday June 28th, 2013 11:53 PM, I added the sentence "I'm not saying this to be rude, I'm just letting you know."

Honestly, did anyone really care for the Long Jump? Thoughts? I liked like the Long Jump but got pissed with the long runup and Nagano's injury! Hopefully, they'll get rid of it or put the sandbox at a steeper incline!

I really liked the new tight editing for Stage 1. I used to get bored seeing the same course being run over and over. Odd to see some big names get FF'd, though. 21 clears is a lot. Might be a bit too easy. A shame that Nagano got hurt. IMO, the Long Jump is too hard for a first obstacle. Either reduce the distance or replace it. The Hedgehog looked super cool, but was much more of a mental test than a physical one. I would change it by lining the pegs up in a straight row and making it longer, so it's just a matter of quick reflexes. Horrified to see Takeda taken out by it... I would much prefer a single Warped Wall to two. Also, I miss the Spin Bridge, if just for the epic falls that it produces. Backstream isn't a fair obstacle. Some people who excel at every other obstacle get completely owned by it. Stick to general strength tests rather than testing a very specific ability. I hate how the Passing Walls have been gimped (probably to make up for the torturous Backstream). I love me-self a real brute force test. The Iron Paddler needs to be easier to use. Just make it longer so it remains a useful obstacle. The final jump off the Pipe Slider seems quite awkward. The motion should be easy, but the distance difficult. Very glad to see the celebrity party gone. Overall, 29 was well presented, but the actual course needs some work.

I was just so happy to see yamamoto and nagasaki clear stage 1 . Takeda didn't really suprise me and nagano the same . The backstream should stay the way it is . Stage two needs to have an extra ten seconds added on . I was pretty happy with the results of the tourney tho .

Morimoto was amazing. I didn't even remember him from the past so seeing this 'new' guy tear it up was awesome.
And no surprises from Takeda!

I like seeing more clears in stage 1 and seeing stage 2 equalize the competitors although the time limit this time was a little too strict. Stage 3 was pretty darn good.

I must say that I'm now a fan of Asa because you can literally see him improve every tournament whilst struggling at the same time. I have to admit I found it hard to get excited during Morimoto's stage 3 run when he was just destroying everything, because I didn't really see him struggle. That's what I like about Asa a lot. He gets better every tournament.
So yeah, I'm an Asa fan.

Kid with a dream and has his family's support.

Still don't like Ryo though. 1 stage wonder.
