I don't see what's so bad about it. I've done a jump like that from a stationary bar, now that there is a ring that gives you more momentum from giving a bigger swing, sounds pretty fair to me.

Wow, I'd love to have long conversation with Higuchi but apparently, you need to be in final stage 4 times to have that privilege. I hope Nagano brought up about distance between Gliding Ring and final platform because the distance looks so insane to me. But I hope they will use strong pole, not the aluminum so it can support the Ring. I expected the Final Ring to be made of rock hard metal and slide down like the circle slider does. It ended up looking like a wobbly toy hoola hoop as Nagano tried to keep it straight and hop down. I don't see what's so bad about it. I've done a jump like that from a stationary bar, now that there is a ring that gives you more momentum from giving a bigger swing, sounds pretty fair to me. Yep, and every single other possible ninja warrior stunts done with relative ease.. With no sign of a digital camera?

What I don't understand is if they really intended it to glide, how did they get it so wrong? Don't they have people test the obstacles beforehand? Nagano is not a heavy person at all, so the "faults" would have been pretty clear watching any tester. Perhaps they did intend for it to be as hard as it was in Sasuke 21, but now have second thoughts?

They meant it to be that way.
Heck, even pipe slider was hard, and you had to 'glide' it across 2 tracks with a single pipe.
Why would they suddenly make a new obstacle that's way easier than pipe slider? Don't you remember why they changed the course intensively from 17th to 18th?
Honestly, Gliding Ring (OFFICIAL TERM. NUFF SAID) did its job as the 'son' of pipe slider.
second thoughts? I think Higuchi or Nagano (either one) talked to one another about the opinion of the obstacle. I would honestly doubt that Gliding Ring is going to be removed. But maybe a shorter version, or one that's easier to 'glide' will be made.
Also, I might have an idea why Nagano talked with Higuchi.... maybe because of the stopper.
Heck, even though he tried, the only way he properly jumped it over was when the ring was parallel to the direction that he was traveling. Otherwise, it fell backwards.

What? Do you want video proof I can do that? I know you can do it and it's not very hard. But I don't want to be responsible for minors getting hurt.

I think there could be a redesign where the track ends and just drops into the stopper as you get there instead of having to jump up into it. What? Do you want video proof I can do that? I agree with you. I think that the Gliding Ring is a little bit easier than people are making it out to be. Could I do it: I doubt it, but I do think it's beatable. I believe supersheep said the 2 meters distance was from the bar holding the ring, not the ring. So, the ring would actually get you a little bit closer to the platform if I'm correct in my statement. The problem I have with the ring is that it seems pretty low compared to the platform. I mean when Nagano was trying to jump the ring over the stopper weren't his shins basically at platform level? Haha. Either way, some people thought that the redesigned cliffhanger wasn't going to be beatable, but surprisingly two people cleared it. Who knows: maybe two people will clear the Gliding Ring this time as well? ;D

My own guess is that they didn't account for the humidity as well. Something in the conversation made me think that. The other thing as well is that the stopper thing was a last minute adjustment Mr. H. thought up to try to make it easier because he wanted others who might have gotten to that obstacle for the very first time to have a shot at clearing it. We all know how many times we had a bunch of people who slid almost all the way back up the pipe slider.

If a kid ever did insane stunts on camera and broke his pelvis, and he said "this guy told me to" then I'd be to blame.

Honestly, Gliding Ring (OFFICIAL TERM. NUFF SAID) did its job as the 'son' of pipe slider. i'd consider it the nephew of the pipe slider, aand the son of the circle slider
