Oh... Sorry that it had to end before any chance of me or Shingo to make a little comeback happen but... ok. Thanks.

I... I don't know what to say here. I just got into Proto SASUKE, and I had done decent, but this... This is what I was not expecting to happen. I still hop for the release of the game though. Other than that, thanks for the good times.

I thought I would offer a little more explanation as to why Proto SASUKE was so suddenly cancelled. Philip and I had been discussing ending the show for a long time. We had quietly cancelled the show after Proto SASUKE 16 but we wound up deciding to make a few more tournaments until a kanzenseiha happened. After Proto SASUKE 18 we were very serious about ending the show but again decided to renew it since we had a lot of new ideas for the show which unfortunately didn't materialize. Ultimately the show over the last year has become way too much work and we didn't find it fun anymore. Philip, Collin, and I heavily discussed cancelling the show during a Skype call after SASUKE 32 but I demanded that we wait three days before taking a vote and we'd stick to whatever the vote came down as. The vote was unanimous to end the show.
That said, I am still planning on finishing the game and releasing it to the public hopefully by the end of the year. I am hoping to have some sort of tournament share feature so that you all can watch each other's tournaments. I realize that by releasing the game a number of you will want to host your own tournaments (and a lot of that discomfort while Proto SASUKE was going on stagnated the game's progress). I'm not planning on putting in a create-an-obstacle or a create-a-character mode in order to preserve a little bit of how special Proto SASUKE was.
We're not done producing SASUKE content either. We'll be working on RNW Elite coming later this summer - I should note that we've been planning that for quite some time and I promise that it had zero effect on our decision to end Proto SASUKE. We also have a big project in the works that should be launching relatively soon once we finalize some details. It's going to appeal to a much wider audience and be significantly easier time-wise and stress-wise.
Proto SASUKE 25 was the perfect ending for us: we ended on a nice round number with Yusuke Morimoto finally bringing home a win for SASUKE's native country. I had a feeling going into it that it'd be our last tournament regardless of the outcome and I was very pleased with the result.
If I didn't answer everyone's questions feel free to ask away. I'm sorry that this was so sudden but I assure you that we did not take this lightly.

What were my chances of clearing Stage 1 if the show would continue?

So a year ago today Drew became our 2nd champion. Hard to believe a year later the show would end. I won't forget it though.

2 years ago today was PROTO SASUKE 14. It wasn't very memorable HOWEVER it was the debut of me and I made a good impression making the 4th obstacle first try tying people like Kanno, Chih, Miyake, and Shingo.
