Kane seems to have taken his losses in Sportsman pretty badly. I remember that Sportsman event (Furutachi was announcing but Kiyoshi Kobayshi was narrating - it was the one where Iketani set that 23 box record) Kane just looked absolutely dejected after he came down from hitting the box and he watched Iketani clear a jump over something as tall as a bus...

Kane has won a hell of a lot more than he lost though.. so not sure what it is you are referring to. He's just an intense competitor. Always has been.

Kane and Naoki were set up as "rivals." Kane was the hero (naturally) and Naoki was the heel (also somewhat naturally considering the way he carries himself). Since Kane took competing in Sportsman very seriously it's natural he might not like losing to Naoki (or anyone, really).
The Celebrity Sportsman shows could get competitive. Pro Sportsman was competitive but it was always a side thing for most of them whereas Celebrity was a chance for competitors to show their stuff. Aside from "Japanese stoicism" Kane's emotional outbursts tended to stand out, because (in my opinion) he really wanted to win compared to some of the pro athletes who were just kind of there sometimes. Unless you think Sammy Sosa was really intent on proving his manhood to the people of Japan.
Ironically, the farther Iketani got from his actual athletic career the more he took Sportsman seriously. Or else he wouldn't have sobbed like a baby when he matched the 23 box record.

I'm sure there was some jealousy. Though maybe Kane was not happy with himself rather than not being happy for Naoki.

I'm sure there was some jealousy. Though maybe Kane was not happy with himself rather than not being happy for Naoki. Why? Everytime they were in the same Sasuke there wasn't anything other than Naoki saying he could beat him.. Naoki was monsterbox champion but Kane was overall champion of Sportsman #1. Something Naoki didn't get to do until after Kane left the show.

To be honest, Kane had done far better at SASUKE than Iketani did. Granted, Kane left after 8 (and I read that he thought he'd "won," so he had no point in going back; this was in addition to him getting into that disagreement with M9).
I do wonder what the future All-Stars thought of him. I know Mr. SASUKE appeared on his Muscle Elite show against Akiyama.

You can clearly tell he knew he lost... You could see how frustrated and emotional he was about it... The reason he left was because of the issue with M9 where they used his image in games without permission...

I don't think he meant literally Rider. Sort of like how Koji stopped going to Sasuke because he felt he had already proven himself enough. Though, I personally disagree with his statement.
