I'm confused were the stage 2 reruns due to obstacle malfunctions or them wanting clears? Knowing G4... A bit of both... I know reruns were given because the Slider Drop bar was too short, making it too difficult to have it in the right spot to land properly I kinda half-blame TBS for all of this. Why didin't they come over and build the obstacles themselves? ? Because it's expensive as f***... and not to mention that, that's assuming TBS staff would actually have time to help build a show they're only involved with the origins of and aren't even going to show more than likely...

www.mediafire.com/?d972uxon3g486pvHere is the updated results through the third hour (thus, all aired runs are on this spreadsheet). Obvious spoilers are obvious; don't read unless you want spoiled. I will be watching the Home Run Derby tonight so once again results will be a night behind.

I will be watching the Home Run Derby tonight so once again results will be a night behind. I've been working on a similar spreadsheet today and could have it out (with tonight's runs included in it) by the end of the day, in case you and anybody else are interested. Also, while going through everything from the broadcasts aired so far, I took note of who the alternates were and whose places they most likely took: David Money (Southwest, 17th) replaced Sedderick Bassett (Southwest, 11th)^
Andres De La Rosa (Northwest, 16th) replaced Travis Furlanic (Northwest, 2nd)
Marcus Ramos (Northwest, 17th) replaced Patrick McGrath (Northwest, 15th)
Ryan Saegert (Southeast, 17th) replaced Andy Taylor (Southeast, 11th)
^Caine Sinclair (who held 16th place in the Southwest regional final) was next in line as an alternate before David Money, but did not compete.
*Kamerion Wimbley (who held 16th place in the Southeast regional final) was next in line as an alternate before Ryan Saegert, but did not compete.

I'm confused were the stage 2 reruns due to obstacle malfunctions or them wanting clears? Just like Rider said most likely both. The fact that they were quoted to have said that and made the jaw drop of the people who heard it made the experience a lot more worthy. It's a shame given that most of Regionals was a positive experience only to screw up their chance at a wonderful thing in Vegas. I can just imagine what Nagano was thinking through all of this.

So I randomly skipped around a recording to make sure the download went ok... how did no one catch this... lol Dear god.......... I never thought G4 was that stupid. They can't even tell a difference between ANW 1 and 2 (their own creation)? It's official. G4 is the worst (and dumbest) TV station in the whole galaxy!

In all fairness. I'm pretty sure pilgrim owns the footage shot during ANW1. Not G4. I know that sounds crazy. But I just have a slight sinking sensation that might be the case. also. Lets me honest. in comparison to what we have now, that old footage looks like crap. So showing the rope swing and referencing ANW1 was not that bad of a decision.

Yeah, I know that the blue one behind a best buy looked like crap but to use footage of oen thing and say it's another looks really bad on their behalf

Remember, this show is NOT for us. Its for housewives. 60% of my new twitter and Facebook followers are older women. The analytics on my YouTube ANW4 run shows that the most views I have came from females Female 55-64. Explain that!
However this is what I assumes from the onset of this season. I know alot of people are pissed about being FF'ed and long character profiles, but that's what the audience wants and they have clearly spoken. Its women. They don't care if you are super athlete David Campbell, or Brent. They want to see hot young guys and heart wrenching stories.
Over all, G4 and NBC made the right choice.

I read the Excel thing and was shocked at Nathaniel Spencer cleared with 0.00 seconds left! Was it for real or rigged? It just seems fishy.

Why is everyone annoyed about the gate opened even though the guy timed out. It's just a gate, he's still out. :S Also @ryoga Vee, I was so glad you did good on the course. My friend said you shouldn't joke around on the show but I don't think you were joking. He shut up when you got past the jump spider. How do you make your costumes? Will you compete again?

Lets me honest. in comparison to what we have now, that old footage looks like crap. So showing the rope swing and referencing ANW1 was not that bad of a decision. For me, personally, if you want your show to be watched and be respected, you should try your best to make the show great, especially in presentation. And considering this particular viewer has known of Ninja Warrior/Sasuke since G4 first started airing the show period, and is aware of a good chunk of the history of the American trials, the least you could do is correctly identify what tournament you just referenced. G4 retcons far too much for my tastes. It's a slightly out there hypothetical, but say there's a sponsor interested in sponsoring the show and knows a significant amount of history. Hell, say Subway wanted another shot. Getting something wrong such as what was your first ANW, especially if that sponsor happened to be the sponsor of the retconned season, could be the difference between extra exposure or not. ANW4 has no sponsor like what Subway and Reebok did. Clearly, it didn't hurt them in the long run it seems like, but something like that is significant enough of a mistake (especially looking at everything weird or outright wrong G4 has done in terms of ANW, ANC or just NW), even if the season doesn't look as pretty.

Actually ratings statistics and NBC demos analysis and press releases completely contradict every word you are saying. The predominant audience they are aiming for and are happy to trump up are males in their 20's. You might want to read the ratings thread. It will be illuminating.

The predominant audience they are aiming for and are happy to trump up are males in their 20's. Small story. I worked for Electronic Arts for a few years. During one of our quarters we noticed an influx of female users on the game Ultima Online. In a meeting, these results were brought up. I asked the project director what we would do in the future to retain these users. His reply, "Nothing, its a games for males." I stressed the numbers again, and explained, "Look, the data is here. something happen and its causing women to show up. we need to investigate and assess what changes we made recently or what features are attracting this demographic. We can market to them and raise revenue. " Again I was shut down. So point is. While NBC is aiming for males in their 20s to watch, the unintended result is women will show up to. I can only assume its the sight of strapping young men.

Hey I worked for NBC for 5 years. Both industries are similar in that regard. I know that set up sadly as it's considered in market research. Someone believes that the male demo is the one that buys products and therefore are more attractive to advertisers in television. G4 has gone even further by changing their programming to EXCLUDE women. This was during Neil's time but that was that and he did not shy away from changing the programming around to deter women from watching. Ninja Warrior was actually one of those that he changed on purpose to get rid of us since female viewers were outnumbering males and they couldn't have any of that. I remember even writing to Neil as to wtf was he thinking since revenue was revenue. He didn't agree. He considered it "an unexpected side effect that they corrected" (yeah.. by getting rid of the daily marathons of NW down to just 1 hour every so often)
Hey I appreciate that you wanted to do something for us in EA. Lord knows that's not how it works in television. Doing the ratings thread you read the NBC pressers and cringe when you see "oh we got a 60% increase on our coveted demo of males 18-25".. while doing the quick math and noticing that the full number was over 70% women's gain in the exact figure if you did the full adult range quoted in the ratings data. I even mentioned this simply because NBC doesn't program that way. We are an unexpected side effect.. not the intended audience and they certain don't cater to us in editing decisions. That's my only contention with the phrasing you used earlier. Is it stupid that they are ignoring us? yes.. but I don't expect much knowing how things work and therefore not surprised.

I don't think you can say that's what they want when they probably haven't seen a real Sasuke to compare. I think women would be more responsive to the shirtless super athletes than the guys running around in foam shoulder pads and dyed hair. Sasuke is supposed to be about the course and those who are skilled enough to challenge it. Yes they have their gimmick characters, but they aren't the true focus IMO. If they keep focusing on who has the most dramatic story or best costume then I don't see them ever having an American finish the course. The only way it would happen then is if they make the course easier to suit the weaker competitors they focus, or fabricate results like they did this time. I think they should stick with the model that got them the initial NW following, and was satisfying both men and women viewers.

Well said Jams btw as an aside and I know I brought it up in twitter and on the G4 forums.. but does anyone think ANW will benefit from a show like "Navi"? And put the majority of the fluff there and just take snippets from that show and lightly integrate it into ANW? Seems the balance is off in ANW so not sure just cutting them completely out is the solution. Or should this be a topic for another discussion thread? I can start it if you want.
