Cool picture and article arsenette! That was really nice on Yuuji's part!  Like you said, sharing things such as ideas and feelings between fellow people in the Sasuke community is so vital to the growth and strength of its worldwide fanbase. Although it's a relatively small fanbase (at least in comparison to many other ones), it is generally very nice, respectful, and generous. Hopefully it continues these trends for many years to come! |

Does he understand English or does he just cut and paste simple greetings like "hello, thank you"? Does he read your blog?
Ah, I wish Google would translate his twitter page. It's not working for me.

Oh don't get me started on the ANW snub..  Either way he doesn't understand English to my knowledge but he can understand some Google translation if you keep the phrases simple and devoid of slang. Lord knows we've read some of those translations into English with a raised eyebrow on our side.. ;D What I do in twitter is write it and cut and paste. Sometimes I include both English and Japanese in the same sentence if it's a quick message. For his posts (or any post in Japanese) I copy and paste the text into the translation page translate.google.com/?hl=en&langpair=auto|en#ja|en| and go from there. He responds only in Japanese and hopes we understand. Sometimes you can tell when he doesn't get it and writes it out. Unlike someone like Kouji Hashimoto who actually does the translation and writes back in English (also in translation) Yuuji doesn't do that. He hasn't been able to figure out how to do it on his end so it's best to just use Japanese translation when talking to him. A note though: He can be a bit blunt (worse than Nagano IMO..  ) but he's getting more patient and overall very nice. He is a bit new to twitter and he forgets to check his message from people he doesn't follow but if you want to say hello feel free to do so Yam I agree entirely. That's the magic of this fanbase. Sure we got our weirdos and whatnot but for the most part we have a very tight knit group in this fandom. And yes I hope this continues from now on and for a looooooong time |

^ Oh I don't have a Twitter or Facebook account, I just like reading the competitors Tweets/posts.
I'll probably learn Japanese and/or Mandarin (Chinese) in the future.

Yes, I've been talking to Shingo on Facebook since last September. Several of the Sasuke competitors, especially the MM people, have Facebook pages. Ishikawa, Naoki Iketani, Aichi Ono, and even Sato all have personal FB pages. Kawaguchi, Kanno, and Shinya have them. Even Ogasawara has one. Yuuji has one, too. Some of them, like Iketani, use the Romanji for their names. Others, like Shingo, use kanji.

How often do you write these guys? ;D I don't.. LOL They know "of" me like a nebulous internet person since they have all at one point or another seen my blog. I do talk to the ones on twitter a lot (mostly STQ'ers) recently. I don't have (nor will I ever) get Facebook but feel free to talk to Shingo there |

Carol and Reina helped Shingo with the English words. Cathi said he practiced saying that before they made the video.
