As far as I know, no one in Japan got a re-do unless there was confusion over the rules of an obstacle (Levi in 25 didn't realize you couldn't touch the Dome Steps with your hands) or the obstacle failed/they adjusted it midway (like so many re-dos for the Rolling Escargot in 26 apparently). But it's G4's rules; sure, Tre Vaughn and Shane failing the first obstacle was a shocker in ANW3, but they must feel that (more) established people* failing earlier than expected may turn people off the product. Anything for ratings. *Like Levi and Strat. Hardcore fans like us will watch regardless. Those with clear favorites may not stick around once their favorite is out. That's evident in most game shows/competitions. But say Ryan gets a one and done attempt. The Levi Rule (as Arsenette humorously put it) may be in effect for him.

From the G4 boards Levi fell on the steps, brian orosco on the jump hang. G4 will be bringing back 10 wildcards and I overheard conversations last night with rich king and brian and it looks like the producers are trying to give them those spots. Levi will probably have one too. P.S. Ryoga mentioned that ANW4's Final in Venice ended at 5:30 am...

Ryan Stratis ended up running and failed the spinning log. They're going to cut it and give him a redo in Miami. Ryan Stratis is from the SE, so Miami would be place he's suppose to compete. From a post on his Facebook page a few days before the Venice tryouts, it sounded like he was going to be in Venice, but was also planning to be in Miami. I interpretted that to mean he was just in Venice to observe, and his real run on the course would be in Miami.

Still, it's not really cricket to let him on the course. On the other hand, if it was just a what the heck moment on the part of G4 to run, it would be innocent if a) he wasn't taking a slot from someone else and b) he wasn't prepared to run that day.

The 'Wild card' thing is interesting as it helps bring back our favourites should they screw up. However, lots of others who failed similarly might not be so happy.
Meh, i like it.

I remember having a long discussion with one of the casting guys back when I did my blog on it. Spent like half hour on it. I broke it down in numbers and a few of them didn't even realize that they were off.. then I mentioned the wildcard and he was going to bring it up in the meeting. My own suggestion was take the "bubble" people who were in the finals in all 3 cities but were just out of the running and decide from there but they might use that as we think they are.. filling in for former competitors who did badly in trials. Either way TBS is a lot more draconian with their decision making with deciding the 100 so I honestly am not angry about the 10 wildcards. Just like you I'm happy about it. Still find it funny though that I had to call it a specific person's rule..

this do over stuff is a little much tho. If they are a protected class of competitors just give them the 10 slots and don't give everone else a reason to gripe.

Get Shaq and 9 other celebs..... make it fair....
Edit let me elaborate: What if Levi wins? How can you justify this to the 90 competitors who earned their spot? It's absolutely BS. Getting the celebs will also get more people to watch alla the Sasuke Broadcasts.

I think Brian K. might be lying. People wouldn't just say results. I think Brian competed, so yeah.

Um... taking Mr. Butter Troll a little too seriously here, I see... well guys I think we've officially lost our dignity. How could anyone take him seriously lol. He knows perfectly well that we do not just post results like that, and if we did, he wouldn't ruin it for us, he has no reason to. Also Strat FOR A FACT will be competing in Miami, he's been talking about it for the past month, and he's recovering from injuries, there's no way he would decide to suddenly run in Venice.

I see it as: Regionals = trials Vegas = SASUKE Remember folks, quite a few people who failed the SASUKE 21 trials were still given spots. Heck, in SASUKE 25 they did weird skills and that's how we met Shinya Kishimoto, and in SASUKE 26 I think they did a random draw

Just to confirm, Ryan Stratis just posted on FB that he was only a spectator to cheer on his friends.

Considering I haven't missed anything regarding it so far in this thread, I'm a bit confused about David Campbell. Does anybody even have confirmation yet as to if he was even at the L.A. regional?

Getting the celebs will also get more people to watch alla the Sasuke Broadcasts. It's no different than the Cards winning via the Wild Card or Packers last season. Hell, no different than singing competitions who bring in Wild Cards. The only real problem IMO is that it seems that this option wasn't decided on beforehand, like those examples I listed.
