Yasuhiro Ueyama is joining Masaki Ito on the Japanese men's Olympic trampoline team. I'm posting here instead of the other Olympics thread based on Ueyama's single Sasuke appearance.

Ito must really like teaming with Sasuke guys. He won the Asian Cup with Nagasaki.

Thanks for the update. Between that and the fact that it nullifies Nagasaki from the team as well right? Do we know how he did? Is he even an alternate or still far down the list?

The decision doesn't appear to be made on the basis of a single competition, or on any kind of existing ranking. As far as I can gather, the officials got together to decide which athletes had the best chance to do well at the Olympics, and picked those two. I should also mention that Japan is eligible to send a single female trampoline athlete to the Games. I need to find out her name. Nice photo of the three of 'em on Ito's blog.

Well, the qualification spots are dished out based off of the Trampoline World Championships and the Olympic Test Event(along with host nation and invitation). Masaki Ito won the bronze in both events, so that explains why he would be there. As for Ueyama, I have no idea. He was not in the Test Event and the Trampoline World Championships website is rather poorly designed. Also, the girl is probably Ayano Kishi, given that she did directly qualify for a spot in the Test Event.
EDIT: Alas, I have been sniped by Ube.

Ueyama is in because he placed first in the Japanese competition held on the 28th. Shunsuke was third. Japan did not need to participate in the Test event. They received two places based on their World Championship performance. Had they gone solely by the World Championship standings, Ueyama would have been in anyway as he finished 8th in Birmingham. birmingham2011.fig-gymnastics.com/vsite/vnavsite/page/directory/0,10853,5248-205195-222418-nav-list,00.html

Yeah I just saw it when the reports of the World record broken by Eaton. That's a shame. Bryan is such a classy guy. My heart goes out to him

Forgot to update this here:
P.S. FIG put a video up of Jordan Jovtchev. Scary to believe I'm slightly older than him but I soooooo agree with him about not recognizing a lot of faces.
He did not only qualify for the Olys he also qualified for the Rings finals!

Ito and Ueyama ended up 4th and 5th, respectively. Kishi didn't make it to the final round.
