Throughout SASUKE, there have been quite a number of painful failures. Just for fun, in this topic, we'll look at one obstacle in particular that was singlehandedly responsible for keeping a number of competitors out of the final stage: the Pipe Slider. Specifically, the landing.
How would the following have done if they had stuck the final landing on the Pipe Slider?
Miura Eiichi (Sasuke 2) Yamada Katsumi (Sasuke 6) Nagano Makoto (Sasuke 9) Yamada Katsumi (Sasuke 10) Akiyama Kazuhiko (Sasuke 12) Shiratori Bunpei (Sasuke 13)
Bonus: Gliding Ring Takahashi Kenji (Sasuke 23) Tajima Naoya (Sasuke 24 and yeah I know, didn't fail the landing but interesting anyway)
I think the only people who could have really had a shot of winning the whole thing would have been Akiyama in 12 and maybe Yamada in 10. I am almost convinced that Tajima would have won just because his Stage 3 performance was so convincing.

I'm surprised you didn't mention Takeda

Well, I'm sure you could but I only listed the times people had a foot on the mat but lost their balance or fell back... I can't remember if Takeda ever failed like that. But of course that's a discussion all it's own.

I honestly think Shiratori would have achieved Kanzenseiha in 13.

I don't think any of them would win. But I think Yamada, Akiyama , and Nagano would have come very close.
