sorry if this has been discussed already, but I did a search and came up with nothing.. There were woes about UY's Kanzenseiha in 24... because he was weariing gomu tabi (rubber boots) ... what I don't get is why in the broadcast in 27... they did not show clips or mention that the other contestants (Kong Takahashii, Okuyama, Hashimoto except Lee) were all wearing Gomu Tabi... they only showed Yuji. it's like they were feeding fuel to the fire.. Where did these woes originate from anyway? forums? I thought that 27 was anti climactic for me because I knew he was going to win after they showed clips of the crazy pace he was practicing at before the final stage.... and I had seen the trailer that they had a new Kanzenseihashiya but it was nice because it was like he told all the doubters to STFU when he got his 2nd win. So what I'm getting at is... in the broadcast the narrator said that even though it was not in the rules that they could not Use Gomu Tabi for 24 it was considered KS... since there is a slight controversy about it now... does that mean that the Gomu Tabi are banned indefinitely from the Final Stage?

No there has never been a ban on the shoes.. if that were the case Nagano wearing it in the 1st stage would be banning him from ever competing again LOL What happened was Yamada did a comment when asked by the reporter before Yuuji ran that he didn't like his shoes and that they should be illegal. Yuuji's shoes were specially made type that combined 2 different shoes in one. Considering that he works for a shoe company I believe Haruta did a custom order for it. But it's still a Tabi. The only thing he changed was the top layer to prevent chafing of his shins as he went up. That's it. It didn't give him more grip as the changes were made to the inside of the lining.. not the outside as Yamada was implying. TBS caught wind of this and obviously Ogasawara went on and on about his shoes as he went up the rope further cementing this invented contoversy. After he won Yamada made another comment that he's not recognizing him as a true champion since he has special footwear. TBS being a television station took that as a story to create drama. The boards in Japan went insane after this but mostly believe it or not saying that he didn't cheat at all so they had no idea why this was even a topic since M9 would have either a) made him change shoes and/or b) stripped him of the title right on the spot. TBS just likes creating/inventing/propagating rumors just for Drama. They brought it back up in 25 and 26 and of course 27 as somehow giving him reason to want to "justify" himself. 2ch went nuts after Yuuji's win because he made a point to win it in sneakers. most of the initial 2-3 hours I went to check were all the Yuuji supporters screaming at the very few Yuuji haters from 24 to STFU and own up that he's actually good. Obviously lost in all of this was the fact that it was Yamada that started it in the first place but God forbid TBS remind people where that came from. So no.. Tabi's are not banned from Sasuke. They just like making controversy where is none to try to make "drama".

thanks for the info arsenette. I watched SASUKE 24 a bunch of times and never saw Yamada on screen... so how could he have made that comment? where did this source come from that it was indeed Yamada that said that comment? I'm sure that you know that once a rumor starts it becoms twisted and in the end becomes a whole lot different from the original. (we did a bunch of exercises like this in high school where we were given a rumor about someone and were told to say it to another person and so on and so forth and at the end it would end up a mangled mess not resembling the original rumor) That would totally suck if someone on the American team/foreign team trained with custom tabis like the ones UY had and showed up to the final stage and the officials were like... nope sorry you can't wear those.. So did TBS actually say that Yamada made that statement in print or durring the narrations? I might have missed it It was kinda weird that he had shorts on... I don't know what looked so weird about him in shorts?? maybe it was because he had funny looking knees?
