In Yamada's SASUKE 20 fluff piece (cannot remember the proper term... it's late) the cameraman walked into the factory and Yamada turned around, with bandages all over his face. The cameraman asked what had happened to his face, but I didn't understand it.
Also, did he at least find a job for a bit prior to the 20th or was his layoff after SASUKE 6 it in terms of his career? That fluff piece has always confused me because one of the key facts of his life was that he had been laid off and has been training for SASUKE ever since. I thought he hadn't found another job...

He's always had a job. He works at the baseball stadiums.

Exactly, the clips of him being a stadium vendor is used almost as much as the clip of him crying after Stage 3.

He's actually had odd jobs over the years. Whenever you see him in the metal factory thing it's his wife's family business of which he's been fired twice.. other places he's been in since it started also he didn't get to keep (no word on whether fired from those either). The one he had for a while was the beer thing at the local baseball stadium and as the other jobs dried up he took on more of that job to fill in the gaps. That's only during baseball season though. His wife's family maintains the house he lives in anyway so it's not much of an issue really that he doesn't exactly have a steady job.

So he was rehired sometime in between SASUKE 6 and SASUKE 20? Huh...
I remember watching the 7th and 8th tournaments and seeing Yamada's runs. I don't think I've seen his family in any since the 7th one, when he tells his son "Gomen na" (I'm sorry) after he failed the Soritatsu Kabe and he walks away with his mom/Katsumi's wife. The 8th one was just even worse when he just effortlessly runs up the wall after time ran out...

Given it's her family's company I assume they tried to help him out again and realized he's just not cut out for it.. He didn't last long in the 2nd stint before he was fired again. As for the other thing.. his family refuses to even deal with the show at all which is why you never see them in any background videos and he's always alone. They are tired of what it turned him into so they refuse to support it.

Yes. In a sense. Although they never say where he was born, his first appearance on Kinniku Banzuke was as the Osaka area Quick Muscle winner. He currently lives in Hyogo, which borders Osaka.
