I reviewed my wipe out video, there I used Komiya Rie's fall off the rolling escargot which was in slow motion. That long pony tail almost seemed like it was about to touch the water (ish)
That got me thinking, if you somehow touched the water with your long hair, would that count as a fail?

Always wondered about this...perhaps it'd count as a fail. I would probably cut my hair a bit shorter anyway before competing, you know, not taking any chances

.. guys it would not be a fail. You don't use your hair to pass the obstacle.. Failures are due to any portion that would be deemed useful for passing the obstacle.. thus your foot hitting it would be a fail but your hair touching the water while on the RE would not be. After all you don't use your hair to mount the obstacle or pass it..

I always wondered about this. I wonder if someone was say going under on the jump hang or slider jump f their hair touched the water.

Pretty sure that's not something they'd even make a rule about.. And like people have said, I don't think it matters since you don't attempt obstacles with your hair.
I think a better thing to worry about is the exact legality of if water comes up onto the course and just happens to hit you... I know in his interview with G4 during ANW2, Brian said he felt some water come up through the island of the Slider Drop, While yes he did clear the stage he probably didn't tell TBS asking the ruling about that... So maybe he didn't tell them and got away with it.. But what is the ruling on that anyways?...

Him touching the water wasn't his fault. The landing mat and the mat that gets pulled out as your attempting the DSL wasn't completely together, thus he got wet.
Not his fault, so why should he be disqualified?

Would a better hypothetical be like this.. Say in 25 someone had the same thing happen to them on the Rolling Maruta as Yamada Katsumi in 4 or 5 (Log comes off tracks but they get lucky and land on the ending platform) BUT the log created a splash that hit them... would that hypothetical competitor get DQ'd?

No, imagine if the water wasn't there at all and instead was a laser beam like they use in those museums to detect burgalers. Touch the laser = DQ,

What about Iketani in 2? He fell off the obstacle, but the water splash when he fell onto the little foam logs. DQ maybe? This thread's got me a little mixed up.

This thread's got me a little mixed up. .......The "little foam logs" under the Burasagari Maruta are an out of bounds zone.. I think those only are there to prevent people from hitting into the wall if they lose their balance running across it... it's an out of bounds zone just like any other water pit...
