Well, i remember reading a blog and it claimed that Yamada means "mountain ricefield" so i thought it'd be fun to look up other all-stars names and see what they mean heres what i go Katsumi Yamada : Mist/flower/clear(how ironic)- mountain ricefield Shingo Yamamoto : ?-mountain ricefield Makoto Nagano : sincerity-? Bunpei Shiratori : ?- Dove Kazuhiko Akiyama : ?- autumn mountain Toshihiro Takeda- ?-? BUT there is an Paralympian with the same name I checked out some of the new stars names~ Yuuji Urushihara : abundant/rule/masculine/govern (yuuji spells his name a different way then normal, he combinds to forms, so i put both of them, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yuuj ) - ? Hitoshi Kanno : ?-? Jun Sato: ?-? Koji Hashimoto : ?- base of bridge Just thought this'd be a fun little thing to see

For Yamamoto his last name is "Yama"--"mountain" and "moto"--"cause, origin, source, beginning," etc. For his first name "Shin" means something like "progress, advance" and "go" means something like "knowledge, truth." That's what I was told on another fansite, anyway. I tried looking up the All-Stars' names before. The "da" ending on Takeda's name is the same as Yamada's, so it's something about a rice field. I seem to recall it was something like "bamboo rice field," but I'm not sure. Shiratori's last name is "Shiroi"--"white and "tori"--"bird." I think "Kazuhiko" means something to the effect of "peaceful man," or something like that. Appropriate, isn't it? It depends on the kanji, though.

Thanks, that's helpful. I'd seen some translations for their names before, but I could never find one for "Bunpei." Put in the kanji for the All-Stars' given names and see what the translations are. Somehow the names seem to suit them; like they lived up to, or are trying to live up to, their names.

Do the other All-Stars have nicknames, too? I mean other than Yamada being "Naniwa Terminator" and "Mr. Sasuke."

I thought Shingo was given Mr. Perfect Attendance (granted its not used all that much)
