Same as the other thread, but for ANW. I know it's hard to say with only two ANW's, but that's all we have to go off of. I'll throw my two cents in after I've woken up morte.

Blackie Chan, maybe. He's definitely got the skill but he makes silly (to me, I suppose) mistakes.
Strat isn't a choker, in my opinion, nor is he overrated. He always delivers with great runs, but things go wrong. In ANW it was the dreaded Warped Wall and in ANW2 it was that stupid trampoline. I think we'll see him in Japan (or at least the finals) next time.
Honestly I can't think of anyone who's overrated or a choker, really. Most of the regulars either did great or messed up on the bridge. No big deal.

Maybe Brett Sims? I'm not sure if he's choked or just been unlucky (Pipe Slider falling off the track in ANW1; Bridge of Blades fail in ANW2). Even though he was shown early in both of them, IMO he's overrated just because he's competed twice and has expectations to do better than he has since getting there.

I kind of agree. Brett's a totally awesome guy (good sense of humor, got a picture with him in L.A.), but I think a lot of people expect too much out of him. Hopefully next time he can show us what he's made of.

Not to be mean... but Shane kinda choked with another time-out... also Evan falling on the Escargot was surprising. Not sure if that makes him a choker or overrated but... I guess that's the closest we can get to it huh?

Don't mean to say anything bad about Shane but he had 20 seconds getting to the Tarzan Rope in 26 and still timed out... How did ya' manage to do that Shane? You could have cleared...
Same can be said about Morikami Daisuke but that's a complete different topic...

I don't think Shane chokes because he consistently does well. Yes, I think always timing out in stage one is well. It could be a lot worse, you know.
Rider, 20 seconds isn't that much time to swing and then climb, especially considering he went kind of low, if I remember correctly. I'm just saying, don't give him so much grief. Most of us wouldn't do as well as him if we were in his shoes.
<3 U, Shane. ;D

I wasn't giving him grief at all.. I was just wondering how he managed to time out, I mean he's one of us, he should know grab the Tarzan Rope high Although it's understandable considering in 23 he didn't even get to swing and didn't know how the Rope Ladder would react.. And making it to the last couple of obstacles in 23 and 26 is actually very good, 23 it's not bad and in 26 it's great when you consider all the big names who failed much earlier

Anyway next time he makes it to Japan I'm pretty confident that he'll make it past at least Stage 1. He's shown that he can get past everything in the stage without falling, and he's probably been working on his speed lately. So I'd say he has a pretty good shot at doing so next time.

After thinking about it some more, there's not enough data to support any claims on this. We need a few more competitions to say if someone is a choker or overrated. The simple fact is that it only takes one misstep and you're out, meaning it's much easier to fail than to succeed. This is regardless of skill, talent, and preparation. I'm excited to see what will happen at ANW3!
