Point being that you don't respect the New Star label. At least Juice definitely doesn't which means the argument of why there were not shown doesn't float by that standard. They should have been. TBS created this mess to begin with. We can ALL agree on that. If TBS was more consistent in who they showed.. especially if they GAVE them labels.. we wouldn't have so many issues of people not liking the new stars. Oh, I see what you are saying. If they are going to hype people up, they should go full force and see where they go. I agree, even if competitors suck, we still can easily get attacked to them and become fans. TBS didn't do it, they just gave a label, and than a few tournaments later, ignored it. Did they even mention the term "New stars" this time around?

There we go That's exactly what we are talking about. So cool we agree. As for if they "mentioned" the label this time.. not sure.. with the absence of all but one on the TBS airing.. it's hard to say if they did. I haven't gone back and analyzed what they said in Japanese (using the terms I recognize). I'll do that when I finally get the mental energy to blog it.

Arsenette, I agree with you. I'm just trying to come up with reasons on maybe why TBS did what they did.

You mean like when they had the 新星 (shinsei) kanji floating across the screen along with オールスターズ in black and white after Koji failed the 2nd Stage? Or how they mention verbally and on screen that Yuuji is the leader of the new generation (新世代 shinsedai)? Those would be the most prominent examples.

Interesting that they would still do that and not show all the new stars. Infact, this is worse to me. They still talk about the new stars, yet they don't really care to show them all. Maybe it's just due to failures. I don't care about the New stars, and it's probably because of what Arsenette has said, they didn't hook me into them very well.

Thanks Ube for checking up on that for me. So yes TBS did mention the New Stars in passing but just about cut them from the show. Bada not sure why TBS is doing this. They've been known to cut people in the past with absolutely no reason. Hell.. Nagasawa had a joke that if he was ever in Sasuke competing again and won.. he'd be cut too.. a couple times he was in Sasuke and timed out just feet from the buzzer but still got cut.. Anyone is fair game to be cut in TBS' book.. just frustrating to see that they create these monikers for people then all of a sudden cut them causing confusion and annoyance from those who actually LIKED them. Juice I think it's a combination of both for you. You didn't follow a lot of Sasuke Maniac when it was around or really followed the Sasuke Trials when it was shown in Navi. It's a preference thing anyway when you come down to it. Just like people liking Mr. Sasuke and others not. Same with anyone really.

On a related note, you all have to remember that the broadcast time was almost cut in half from the recent tournaments. I'm shocked a few good competitors got completely ignored, but they simple couldn't show everyone even when over HALF of the stage 2 and 3 runs were cut from the broadcast.
I don't think it's a lack of interest or care for the New Stars/All Stars/whatever. I think they have a respect for them. We don't know a single thing they're saying in the broadcast- all we see is literally what we see.
Had they had 4 hours, I'm sure their runs would have shown in full. They desperately need good ratings and the probably felt they needed to push EXILE, celebrities, Nagano, Yamada, Urushihara, and the Asians who went far.
Personally, I was angry that the Americans weren't throuroughly featured. But the more I think about it, the limited broadcast time and the importance of good ratings had to have come first and TBS obviously thought that the Americans wouldn't substantially contribute to the ratings. If Kanno or Jun Sato made it to the third stage, I'm sure they would have been featured like crazy. But they didn't, so it wasn't practical (or maybe even economical) to show them.

TBS has been consistent in not being consistent.. I think we can all agree there I would have hoped though that if they had monikers they would be shown.. that said.. they were there in FF.. in the past they would have all been cut. Sometimes I wonder wtf they are thinking when they edit the show.. but it's best not to.. LOL

TBS is always looking for a "story" to go with Sasuke. Whether is All-Stars vs. New-Stars or American vs. Japan vs. That Lee en Chi guy, Sasuke tries to make competitors run matter more by tying them into a larger theme.
I think what frustrates us most is that we'd rather see TBS elevate competitors by focusing on them individually and make us care more about them rather than a contrived stable/country battle. It'd help TBS more if they can make more people care about more competitors that's more reasons for people to tune in and keep watching.
Only one person (maybe two) benefited from the America/Japan/Taiwan story and that was Okuyama (with Campbell possibly being the only other). The editing made Okuyama's 2nd stage run matter more and his progress on the UCH from 25 to 26 made him stand out the most to me.
