Friggin' awesome for Nakata Shows how good he was to begin with to be able to get it back for this competition. I hope he continues and does well! Sucks for Shunsuke though.. he's had quite an up and down year though.

Doin' it for geezers everywhere! What makes it even better is that Nakata's synchro partner, Hiroshi Kishi, is apparently a high school student. Way to mentor the next generation! It's interesting to look back and see how many of Japan's top trampoline guys have ties to Sasuke/Muscle Musical/M9. Speaking of which, in which Sasuke did Yasuhiro Ueyama compete? No, this isn't a trivia question, though it could be I didn't see it in the Sasukepedia, but confess I didn't look too hard.

Daisuke Nakata is pretty darn awesome. I'm not surprised at all by this result. He's able to pull anything out.
His appearances on Sasuke were so sporadic and infrequent yet he always came through and almost always cleared the first and second stage.
All this with a major injury in his past. Truly incredible and an inspiration.

Daisuke Nakata has been one of my favorite competitors since the first sasuke tournament I saw. I'm glad he is doing well =) He's the man!

I loved Daisuke's last appearance on Sasuke. His frustration with the Salmon Ladder was SO emotional. My girlfriend and I watched that Sasuke together live on Keyhole and we were screaming for him. He didn't hear it. Wonder if Shunsuke will ever return.

Wonder if Shunsuke will ever return. I haven't heard good news regarding trampoline at all from him the past couple of years, he hasn't done so well. Maybe if he was kicking butt and getting medals it would be a good reason to not be in Sasuke... but Unfortunately, M9 made Nagasaki out to be a better trampolinist than he actually was, even way back then. Don't get me wrong, he's no slouch and certainly in Japan's top 6 or 7 athletes. However, only the top 4 guys and an alternate are able to compete in international events, as the rules currently stand. I don't quite understand what's involved in the selection process, but I do know that it's the kind of sport where one bad competition at the wrong time can screw up your whole year. As to whether or not he'll return, who knows? He has a corporate sponsorship with a food company, and competing on Sasuke might be judged a conflict of interest with the sponsor. Then again, it's hard to say if he'd even be invited back, since M9 does seem to expect top Sasuke competitors to promote the show in one way or another. Make no mistake, he's a popular guy. I know you can't judge everything by blog comments, but of the Japanese trampoline athletes who have blogs that I know of, Nagasaki gets the most comments by far.

Can somebody take a look at Nakata's blog ameblo.jp/nakata-daisuke and let me know what's going on? From the translation, it seems Nakata is no longer with Muscle Musical. It kind of sounds as if M9 fired him because of a conflict during the All Japan trampoline championships, but I can't be sure about that. edited to remove M-Jump references. M-Jump is the name of the current Muscle Musical show.

I got from that that he didn't tell anyone that he had decided to compete in trampoline so therefore those who went to see the show to see him would not have found him. And for the future he will be doing trampoline but not the show? He said that it was his fault to not update people on his schedule and to continue supporting the show..

Glad to see him doing well. I still feel so bad for what happened to him several years ago.

Glad to see him doing well. I still feel so bad for what happened to him several years ago. Yeah. He like got rear ended in a traffic accident, then he was stalked by a woman, I think her name was Hiroko Osawa or something and she'd send him a s*** load of e-mails then he would file a complaint and she was arrested, then the poor guy struggles his last 3 SASUKE's cause of his hands.

Well I've heard that his hands are pretty much like claws in function anymore.. I remember hearing in 21 he gripped the rope on the downhill jump too tight and couldn't get a grip on the Salmon Ladder bar. Didn't I also hear that it wasn't as much pain as much as frustration?

That is correct. His hands are fine normally but sometimes if he gets a shock.. meaning like when he clamped on to the rope really hard.. he couldn't get them to "unclamp" and basically had claw hands after that unable to move his fingers to cooperate. So what we saw as pain was actually massive frustration to the point where he tried to bite his arms to get his nerves to work correctly. Even if it was pain to him the frustration was just higher. Luckily exact movement and control in his fingers are not entirely necessary for trampoline which is probably why he managed to get his body to do that again. It's just awesome he did so well his first time out in ages. Gotta love his Olympian Spirit!

That being said, Sasuke unfortunately is a game that places TONS of emphasis ( too much in my opinion ) on hands & grip strength. I have a weak grip so that is why i will probably won't even qualify. That is why i think Nakata will need a miracle to even do well again.

Hey guys ready for me to ask a question that could be extremely obvious!!?
Is Daisuke Nakata related to Miyazuki Daisuke?
Also, I'm really confused on the order here, as to weather or not Daisuke is their last or first names, since it switches and I can't tell which is American order, and which is Japanese order. They look a little alike as well. There's nothing in the Sasukepedia that even mentions them being brothers, but I don't always assume it mentions everything.
