Well that would require a rope which isn't too much of a problem, but finding a trees near a slide that is elevated off the ground with a rope net under it, thats a problem.

It hurts?
You probably just need calluses, or milk.
And sometimes you can't prevent it from hurting no matter how strong you are, if it's the wrong length it's going to hurt your bones, you just have to power through it.
To build grip I did a lot of towel pullups.
Rock Climbing improves it a lot aswell.
Finger-tip pushups, cliffhanger training.
Rope Climbing.
One of those stress/grip balls.
But Cliffhanger isn't even much grip strength, it's more finger-forearm strength.
When I do it my fingers hoenstly don't hurt at all, but my forearms are incredibly sore.
I'd work on that more than anything.
need help on fore-arm training?
GTKLOmaniac has a nice vid on youtube.
just search his name on youtube and go through his videos.
Hope this helps! And happy training!

Well without grip, how would you make it past the Log Grip and Pole Maze? or the Halfpipe Attack, And thats just stage 1. But if its hurting the best advice I can give is keep doing it but don't over do it, You'll get used to it in time, I remember the first time I did a Cliffhanger (and this is before there even was a Shin Cliffhanger), I made it for 5 seconds then grabbed my fingers, now I can copy the Shin Cliffhanger and mess up less than 10% of the attempts

Training hurts. It is shaping your body in the fire of your will.
And who needs a net? the fact that if you fall, your going to get hurt, is security as it is.
damn dude

That's not the point Rider, I'm saying grip strength isn't needed for the cliff-hanger, it's 80% forearm strength.

SPOILERS
lol, not really, but there is a clue that amounts to a very subtle spoiler. I mean, come on, you could have used a pic from 20.

Couldn't find a the pic from 20, and unless someone reads japanese and has the clearest monitor ever and a microscope, its not spoilers.

Not the name or the image of the person, something else.
And it doesn't really matter. It's so subtle and I'm pretty sure everyone here has seen 21 anyway.

Well don't tell. Although considering who that was, I would assume this guy wishes he made it to 21 then (the red mark I put in proably gives it a away)
