For those of you who watch Kinniku/Unbeatable Banzuke on G4, have they ever showed any of the baseball or soccer stuff? Struck Out, Spray Hitter or Kick Target?

I've been watching Banzuke for the last several days, and I haven't seen any of that. I'm still waiting for them to show Quick Muscle. They mostly show things like "Skeboarder," "Daruma 7," "Super Rider," "Kangaroo," the one with the foam things, and the one with the stilts.

They haven't shown any of those, haven't even shown any specials (Unless you count Sasuke but they showed that first) Hell.. They have stuff in the opening they've never used.. (Some kind of Pillar things someone on a bike drops from a high one to a low one, According to those pics in another topic here it's Super Rider 4) and someone falling into a gap between some angled sections in some kind of Hand Walk (Hand Walk 4? I don't think G4 even showed anyone beating HW3)

This is all they've shown:
Amazing Road Athletic Love Bamboo Derby Banzai 90 Daruma 7 Extra Kendama Giant Ball Hand Walk Kangaroo Like a Pierrot Nakama Neko de Drive Ottoto 9 Quick Muscle Skeboarder Spider Walk Sponge Bridge Strong Mama Super Helico Super Rider Trampoline Untouchable
Of course after they shown someone winning they aired the sequels (if there was one) but every sequel hasn't been shown whether because no one won or G4 just didn't air them. I may have forgotten one or two.

OK, tying this to this thread: sasukemaniac.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=kunoichi&action=display&thread=2650The reason I asked (and actually jfeathe sort of answered) is because I've always wondered how G4 handles actual celebrities/pro athletes (as opposed to Banzuke made ones). By cutting out Struck Out and Spray Hitter, they've cut out two players who would actually be relevant today: Daisuke Matsuzaka and Hideki Matsui. One would assume that using nationally known stars would be better for ratings. Is it a licensing thing? Is it a branding thing? By deliberately shying away from mainstream sports I think they were trying to market it as either a) yet another kooky Japanese show or b) some kind of alternative sports show. Or are they not allowed to use things like the pro team logos and whatnot?

By the way, the answer to all of these questions is not "Neal Tiles is a moron."
I've never watched Banzuke on G4 so I want to know how to they are marketing it. Didn't they add bookends to all the episodes? Are they treating it seriously? What about the commercials?

I see the occasional commercial.. Their commercials are pretty much saying it's from the producers of Ninja Warrior and the rest is pretty similar to the openings, I only see them before the show comes on... The formatting is cut into half hour episodes with two or three events per episode (But the 3 event episodes it's usually Quick Muscle/Muscle Gym in the middle), They have talking in Japanese with subtitles by Rome Kanda as "Kei Kato" (Despite the fact when he talks in Japanese you hear it said as "Kato Kei" and also he says "Kinniku Banzuke" which gets subbed to Unbeatable Banzuke). Dave Wittenberg still commentates, Theres always a little box with obstacle names and numbers of the obstacle they're on and theres also a clock that counts up that I haven't seen in Japanese clips. They cut to commercial between some runs and between events and when they return from commercial they go back to "Kei Kato". EDIT: Found this on Youtube, shows how they deal with runs

I have to ask, if you've seen Taiku Oukoku anywhere (and if so where so that I may watch it) and would it be possible for G4 to just find a way around the logo and still promote it as Unbeatable Banzuke?

Do they blur anything out in the episodes?

I don't recall seeing anything blurred out.
This is really how a normal episode is. During Muscle Gym/Quick Muscle events, on like one occasion you see the original clock for a couple seconds and in the split screen the only difference is the edit of the names to English. If anything is blurred either they do a good job of it or I just never noticed it even when looking all across the screen.
Something interesting: I remembered this a few weeks ago and just remembered look closely at the ticker for the "random" choosing. Struck Out and Kick Target are in the ticker but are never chosen.

Just in case you were intrested, GXT airs G4's version of Banzuke. It's pretty much the same talking about commercials and the "yet another kooky Japanese show"thing. Only we don't have anybody commentating, we only have subtitles, and they've never mentioned anything about Banzuke being related to Ninja Warrior. At the start they didn't really take it seriously. The first italian Banzuke commercial was a montage of epic fails intermixed with Kanda talking with completely made up subtitles. How do I know the subtitles were made up? I don't think Kanda speaks Roman dialet...and IIRC he has never talked about "No serious people...no hot chicks...idiots falling off bikes...my job sucks, so if you don't watch this show I'll kill you!". So happy they got rid of that stupid commercial...

They showed BEFORE they showed the first one..) they had a whole bunch of Japanese graphics they didn't bother to edit..

In Neko de Drive, most runs (if not all of them) featured the original course graphic a la Ninja Warrior 1.
