Because it means more and more people will want to try strictly for the prize money. Although I wish there was *no* prize money, at very least they waited until so far after the entries were closed for this detail.

Yup...I can't imagine the mess there would have been if they told us this before closing. Uhm, since I smell lots of posts over this thing, once everybody reads this I suggest to create a new thread to discuss specifically this news, so that this thread one can still be useful for possible new details about the tryout.

There really is no news honestly. G4 is just G4.
I'm pissed they don't even have to win in order to get this money.

That's pretty sad that whoever has the best time in 26 (I'm guessing only for clearers of stage 1 or if they all bomb that whoever gets farthest) is getting more money just for passing stage 1 than they would get if they got Kanzenseiha... This isn't what Sasuke is about people......

There really is no news honestly. G4 is just G4. I'm pissed they don't even have to win in order to get this money. That's what baffles me too. The fact there's actually a scenario that pretty much says all American entries but one can fail the first stage, and that one will win more money than not just in Sasuke, but with the exception of a 2002 special, any top prize given in the Japanese version of Millionaire. This honestly deserves the term WTFITS. I realize pretty much everyone can benefit from $250,000 right now, and I understand G4 wants this to become an American Sasuke, but really? REALLY?

OK... it was a typo.
Just finished calling Chelsea. It was a typo. 100% meant to be 'complete'.

Thanks for calling Chris. It wasn't you who wrote the information wrong. They did. I'm now just about sure they won't get to pay the $250 grand. Still sucks that the winner if it's not an American won't get that money.

Now is that still complete in the shortest time (as in best result of American reps) or the entire course period. If it's entire course period then fine, but if it's best out of the group, then that's insane.

Just saw that they updated their web site with more details...
Even though the submissions deadline for American Ninja Warrior 2 tryouts has passed, it doesn't mean you won't get your chance to make history. Come down to the ANW 2 Fan Experience at Windward Plaza at Venice Beach, CALIFORNIA on August 7 & 8, where a limited number of Warrior Wannabes will get exactly that opportunity. Thousands are expected, but only the top 15 will emerge from these tryouts with a spot in Season 2's live-in boot camp. These 15 will train and compete with each other for a spot in the top 10, who will be making the trip to Japan to face the legendary Mt. Midoriyama for Sasuke 26. The American competitor who completes all four stages at Sasuke in the fastest time will be named the ultimate "American Ninja Warrior" and receive the $250,000 prize. Check back here closer to the event date for competition rules and restrictions and to find out how you may get a chance to try out.
Looks like that's why they were asking people's availability for the following week on the application.

So the first two days are the tryouts, and the third day would be to pick the 15 that would then go into some Big Brother/Saw camp where only 10 survive?
Seems like they're doing a lot. I hope they'll have the competitors at the camp do stuff that's actually beneficial for their time on Sasuke.

Well by boot camp what they better be doing there is one of those obstacle courses they have.. hopefully one more relevant than the ANC2 one...

This is pretty unfair to people like me (and many others) who can't hang around for an extra week in LA. Some of us have things to do. Work, college, etc..
Hopefully this doesn't bump us out of the finalists category. Say 15 people kick a** at ANW2, but only 7 can stay in LA. The other 8 have to go home and get back to their lives. Those people are denied their spots because G4 wants to drag stuff out.
Maybe they'll can the idea/modify it if too many finalists can't stay...

You could always email them and ask about it. Maybe they will pay for return flights for the finalists. It wouldn't make up for missing a week of work or school, but if you're a finalist and have a 66.67% chance to be on Sasuke it would be worth it IMO.

Better than the previous rumor Still too much IMO but that's beating a dead horse at this point M9 gave them this much and I'm sure TBS will just FF again like they did in 23 so I'm not worried. They better though allow just as much in Sasuke Trials. I'm hoping a lot come from Taiwan as well.
