How is it that the competitors in sasuke can withstand the weather conditions while competiting? In the spring competitions i imagine are pretty cold seeing as they all wear thick jackets, but i seem primarly concerned for those that compete shirtless (ie: akiyama, yamada koji and katsumi). does the cold not affect them at all when running the course? And what about during the fall competitions? judging from what they're wearing it must be pretty hot but how do the competitiors deal with it?

Without knowing them for sure.. we can only guess. Watching them on TV I've gotten a few ideas. Nagano is always the coldest.. I guess growing up in the south he doesn't aclimate to cold weather as fast. He's usually wearing a friggin' coat right up until his name is called. Even in Sasuke 20 he was wearing the coat and putting on Sasuke Spray. In the summer.. he's in his element.
Akiyama is the complete opposite. He's used to the frigid weather and doesn't seem bothered by the change as much as the others. He does have issues in the heat though. I guess it's like asking someone from Alaska to migrate south for a while.. in summer.. they are going to be hurting.
Seeing the TBS broadcasts you get a better idea what goes on behind the scenes.. you see who's bundled up and jumping around to keep warm and who's practically naked because they love the weather.

And look at Yamada - in Sasuke 3 when he went to the Final Stage, he stripped down to only his shorts and sneakers, as the announcer said "every ounce counts" for him. People like Yamada probably don't care what the weather's like anyway. But true, if you're running - RUNNING - the course, you should be okay.

Yeah that's what i was probably thinking for shirtless competitors on the course.

and...they don't always easily get past the weather obstacle. Remember Shiratori in Sasuke 15? He managed to recover, but that was a friggin sunstroke.
were you referring to this? Sasuke 20 I simply love this pic...reminds me when I was 8 years old. "Mum, I don't want to go to school...I'm cold!"

If you do a quick warm-up, the cold won't be too bad. The worst thing about the cold is when you run in it. Your throat feels like it's freezing.
I like the heat, but I'm ready to train this winter. So, I should be fine no matter what.

I think I forgot to mention it, but wasn't it below freezing by the time they got to the Final Stage in Sasuke 3?
