Whats a good way to practice rope climbs without an actual rope climb? I don't have an actual rope and even if I did, no where to hang it (I suppose trees might be used but that would mean getting up there and testing the branches and stuff but the point is moot as I have no rope). I've climbed a cable (just regular steel cable, not electric (obviously, I wouldn't be here to type if it was!) or anything like that, slightly angled) before, although I stopped before getting to high, because I don't know if mall security was on the parking deck as I can't see over it , so is there any easier way to train? and by that I mean one I don't want to stop too early because of not wanting mall security on XDXDXD

Poles and Cables are too stiff to be like actual rope climbs though, which is why I ask. EDIT: BTW its not as much the cables themself being stiff as much as it being pulled so its stiff.

I would recommend strengthening your grip strength first, because when I first bought my rope, it was hardest for me to adjust my grip to the rope so my climbing suffered. Granted, the rope was only 3/4 of an inch, but I'm sure there are ropes in Sasuke about that thick. Then, of course pullups will help with the actual climbing of the rope. If you live near a park, you may be able to hang a rope over one of the poles and climb it if no one's there, but you'd have to buy a rope first. I've done that a few times haha.

My grip is fine, Like I said, I can climb cables just fine, Its just not swaying enough and i don't want mall security to be on the parking deck so I don't want to climb too high.

climb a tree branch then! sumthing living so if u tare a lil off 1. itll be kinda hard 2. it'll be green.
A willow's branch will work fine, it'll say if u want it to, or better yet, climb in the wind, that'll sway the sh*t outta ya!

Rider, have you tried looping a sturdy towel around a chinup bar (or any type of bar) and doing pull-ups while you have both hands on the towel? You wouldn't be able to practice your foot technique, but it'd definitely strengthen your arms/grip in the same position they'd be in on a rope.

Actually, you can afford a real cheap Manilla rope at home depot. I work there.
I got about 8 feet of rope (3/4 inch thickness), and some metal pieces used to loop around the rope and latch it, for under $10.
I'll put in some pics later.
