I think they both would have cleared. Most of the obstacles in stage 1 are ones they've done before. The only new one was the Bridge Jump, and I don't think either of them would have had a problem with it. The only thing I could see stopping Yamada is the Soriatsu Kabe. I wish he'd been there this time. I really think he would have finally cleared the first stage.

The only thing in Stage 1 that could stop Yamada from passing is the Warped Wall. I too think he might've cleared this time. On the other hand I don't Bunpei should have any problems.

Bunpei was still nursing a bad knee (uhm.. no one remembers Sasuke Navi?) and the Wall was still there so that would have taken out Yamada provided he survived the bridge (he has a tendency to play things safe and every person who failed the bridge went "safe".

Furthest Yamada would've gotten is to the wall.
I think due to his old age Bunpei might've got stopped by the wall too but if he cleared that then he'd complete stage 1 with less than 5 seconds left. Then I think he'd time out on stage 2

I'm going to stick with my optimistic approach to this sort of poll, and say I think they both would have cleared. Bunpei, so long as his injuries didn't hold him up, would have beaten it with little problem IMO. This new course reminds me so much of the old ones, back when Yamada actually beat Stage 1, and I think he would have performed far better with this style of stage. So, assuming he had no problems with Bridge Jump or WW, he would have made it too I think.

I'd say only Bunpei. Yamada could have cleared, but IMO the chances of him failing the Bridge Jump or the S. Kabe would have been more.

Yamada can do the wall no problem... did you not see ohw close he was in 24? He HAD it. Even with his mental demons he could've cleared. Yeah the wall had a chance to stop him, but I'd put his chances at beating the wall at probalby a 50/50, and since that's really the only obstacle I see taking him out, his chaces of beating the stage are about 50/50 =p

I don't know, I think the Circle Slider has just as much of a chance on taking him out as the Warped Wall does.

Well provided both were healthy.. I still give it to Bunpei simply because he's got the better record in the last 10 years and Bunpei has had success on the Shin-Sasuke course.

bunpei's foot would probably hit the water at the jump hang. Yamada would run out of time i guess.

I think both could clear, but it would be REALLY marginal with Bunpei's technique for the Jump Hang of going under and of Katsumi still having the mental block of the Wall.

Bunpei never had any trouble with the Jump Hang. He is the only All-Star who never failed it.

Bunpei never had any trouble with the Jump Hang. He is the only All-Star who never failed it. That is true, but there's something just....I don't know.....eerie about this version that with the way he REALLY relies on just his arms and swinging underneath it, it could be his one time of a downfall for it. Now that I think about it, isn't the netting in this version the same as the Slider Jump?

I think Bunpei would have timed out on the rope ladder and i think Yamada would have cleared with less than a second but would have timed out in the second stage.

Provided they were both 100%, I think Bunpei would have a very good chance, perhaps hampered slightly by not attempting the actual course for so long, but there wouldn't be any specific obstacles to really give him trouble. Yamada would most probably fail the Wall, or at least take enough tries on it to run out of time. I could see him failing the Circle Slider as well.
