Ok, here is how you should fo the Salmon Ladder, without building one.... What I did, was find 2 holes, that I could put a pipe through(make sure the hole allows the pipe PLENTY of room to move) Then you grab the pipe and force it up, and see if you can survive the shock, when it comes down, if you can, you can survive the first 6 rungs of the salmon ladder, so far I can do 3 before I let go.

That's part of it. But you need somewhere to practice the distance between rungs, including the bigger last rung. Although that is good that you found something to practice it on.

I usually use a normal bar (swingset tops are percect, if you can't climb up there you don't have a chance on the Salmon Ladder anyways) and just push yourself up off the bar and when you come down catch it. Plus you aren't limited with the notches, you can jump all "notches" as big as the last one or higher.

Yeah... that whole shock method isn't very useful. I'm sorry.
If you absolutely cannot build a Salmon Ladder for some reason, find a swing set. That's kind of similar.

or you can just do kipping pullups regularly. everybody that gets up the salmon ladder does it with a kipping motion. its a sick exercise if you do it properly.

The Salmon Ladder is still different, though. No training will really get you used to it unless you build it. Even just jumping with a pole like ultimas8er did in one of his videos will be better practice than kipping pull-ups.
If you really want a work out to get stronger, though, you should just do regular pull-ups with no kip. They're much harder since kipping is a way of cheating.

I think regular pullups would be better than kipping pullups to do, because you're doing the regular pullups in proper form and therefore working harder. I also think that possibly doing explosive pullups would help too. By this, I mean do a pullup as quickly as you can in proper form, and then slowly lower yourself. I think that this way would be good, because you're building up the explosive strength while continuing to work your muscles hard without cheating. Anyway, feel free to correct me if you think I'm wrong. I'm just trying to offer good advice.

Haha nice. I like being right on the money ;D. I just kept saying "I think" in case anybody felt that I was wrong haha. Anyway, Unclesam, have you made any progress on your Salmon Ladder, yet? Hopefully, your next video will be doing the entire Salmon Ladder, instead of more obstacle malfunctions haha. I hope that you can complete it soon.

I have not made progress on the Salmon Ladder because of three reasons: 1.) It's colorado. It decides that it wants to snow before even the newscasters know. 2.) I've been tight on money. I have the materials now to re-finish the rungs, but then there's also the third reason: 3.) Sasuke USA happened. My time and energy went completely toward what I expected to be the first stage, and trained for that. I didn't expect a Salmon Ladder to be there, and there wasn't, so my guess was accurate. Nonetheless, as I stated, I have all the components to finish building it, and will be doing so tomorrow if reason #1 doesn't interfere... which it's seeming like it might.
