I'm new to this board but a huge fan of Sasuke. I tried looking this up via search but what does it mean when someone says "from the shin-sasuke era"? Is there a difference between the earlier competions as opposed to the current ones? If you need to flame me feel free.

With Shin-Sasuke we mean the tournaments after Nagano's Kanzenseiha in Sasuke 17.

There are multiple eras of Sasuke
1-4
4-17
18-current
Basically, after a competitor wins it becomes a new era... though most people count 1-17 as one era because after kazuhiko won, the course didn't go through any dramatic changes.
But of course, when nagano won stages 1-4 were WAAAY different. Not only did we call it shin-sasuke, but M9 did to.
Shin really just means "new".
Like the obstacle the "Shin-cliffhanger". It's the new version of the cliff-hanger, the one with the 2nd ledge slanting upwards.
There's not much more to it than that. It's just an easier way of us adressing the "eras".
