Rio= REE-yo
Ryo= ruhYo
It's extremely hard to write these names phonetically (sp?)
That should be pretty close. If you pronouce them with a Spanish accent, you'll have an easier time.

I pronounce everything but Rie Komiya's name the American way, due to a lack of original viewing exposure.

They usually say it like Re-eh, the sound the i and e make are separated, No Rye, No Re, just Re-eh.

There's probably never been a more split cut poll, this poll is as evenly cut as a mullet.

LMFAO ahahahhahaha. I expected it to be more American than anything given the fact that a lot of people watch the Ninja Warrior version a lot more (given that it has subtitles) more than the Japanese/TBS version. I think that's why I'm always militant against dubbers and narrators to make sure they got it right the first time. They influence a lot by even how they pronounce names!

The "Worst Misprounounciation" award has to go to Oliva Munn for her butchering of Nagano during the WoNW 7 special: Na-GONE-o Makes me shutter every time.

Wrong It's more like Tah Keh Dah mostly the "ka" in yours is wrong. If it was spelt "Takada" then you'd be right. E's make an Eh sound.

G4's stupid pronunciation of Tajima really bothered me too but I can see why an amateur would make the mistake, you just look at it wrong and out it comes. TBS: Tawjima, G4: Tuhjiima.

Venus: The "taw" kinda works... but it's more of a "tah"

I was waiting for someone to come in here and say that, particularly you Mr. light, I've heard it more than a few times from you and from the person above me, I've about had it. I'm majoring in Japanese so what does it matter, I generally use Taw because to me that's what it sounds like when discussing pronunciation because I'm not speaking to Japanese people here.

Well generally when studying the language it would behove you to say it correctly. After all.. what's the point if you learn it wrong? Just want to write it and not be understood when you speak it? Drives me up the wall when people who say they are studying Spanish but I can't understand them because they chose to not bother with conversational Spanish so I ask for Japanese since it's close to the same pronunciation. Doesn't take much to learn it right.
