I'll also nominate Shiratori in 15, for the same reason as his stage 1 run - heat exhaustion almost took him out, but he fought back to beat not 1, but 2 stages! And he didn't look ill at all during stage 2. He looked good.

My fave is in Sasuke 18 with Kenji Takahashi barefootin' through Stage 2 like it was nothin'! That's what I call reckless abandon. Nice holler at the end, too.

What about Hatakeda in 6 when he got scared by the smoke at the end? ;D

That was kinda interesting, the way he got spooked!
And if we can count those that didn't make it, I'd have to count Kinnikun Nakayama in 11. If anything, he totally SHOULD'VE made it.

Well, hate to double-post, but now that we can discuss 21 at will....
...I have to throw in a vote for Takeda's run in 21. He overcame the Salmon Ladder that beat him before and finished the stage with lots of time left (over 25 seconds, I think). It was just a display of the confidence he had that day.
Daisuke Miyazaki's run was also good, but clearly the best part of it was the way he attacked the Salmon Ladder like no one else had done.
