Hello, I have a geonormous problem. I want to record from the hd Sasuke 23 we all have seen by this point, but the tool I use really lags, slows down and gets behind the sync with the audio. I have no problem recording from the new 24 hd file, but 23 is SO big that lag ensues upon recording with Fraps, obviously not good when considering I plan to use it in large projects.
Time to find a better program for this, for anyone who doesn't use fraps and has another program, try recording from Sasuke 23 HD. Let me know what program that you use if you get a perfect, smooth recorded video. Simple really it just takes a bit of work to assist me.
What else is there to record an avi file with (most Sasuke tournament downloads are avi usually) do you know of anything more advanced than fraps?
A solution will result in both of my trailers having HD sasuke 23 & 24.

Recording off the screen is generally a really really bad idea.
I'm looking at my Hard Drive at the moment: Sasuke.2009.Autumn.23th.HD.Pure.avi SASUKE.2010.New_year.24th.HD.Pure.mp4
(1) These videos would give you ridiculously better quality. (2) I would imagine that if you get them, you can put them to use in your Trailer. (3) Go look at the video threads again...

If you're trying to pull specific segments from the videos, then you should just use a video editing program where you can cut the parts you want.
If you still want to use Fraps, maybe you could convert the one that's giving you problems into a different video format and then Fraps it?

If you're trying to pull specific segments from the videos, then you should just use a video editing program where you can cut the parts you want. You have to realize these are 4 and 5 hour long files in HQ, they can't be imported into my Adobe Premiere because they're so large. Someone would have to be nice enough to upload them in like 3 split up parts so they wouldn't be too big for everything. If you still want to use Fraps, maybe you could convert the one that's giving you problems into a different video format and then Fraps it? Converted the HD 23 and it plays like crap, converted file was corrupted. I'd still like to hear from people who make sasuke videos and how they record, their methods can't be identical to mine. SRW or Rider for instance, what do they use?

See, Camstudio is my last line of defense.
Unfortunately, I try to record shows from TV Asahi, which always makes me resort to my last line of defense. >:

You can look into Debut www.nchsoftware.com/capture/index.htmlThey have a free version which seems to work okay, but I can't get it to record sound or pick up the right sound device. Maybe you'll have better luck. If you're using Fraps, are you recording your entire desktop, or getting it to record just the video player?

It always captures just the media playing, I've used it since day 1 because it's so convenient. I will try Screen rip and Debut out!

Oti- I read about screenrip and it is a snapshot program and not a recording one.
catfish- I couldn't get sound out of it either and the destination of my recorded files wasn't going where I specified, I won't use debut apparently.
I have been having more like with Fraps lately! How well my captured footage turns out depends on how much it can focus on the job. If there are other programs running whether they are busy loading things or not it slows down Fraps' capture frame rate. Is it really any surprise that I'm still using it now?
Works great with the HD 24! Sasuke 23 though has varied results, in order for those to look good I have to capture the frames slowly and then make it sync up with the audio later, manually. We won't use much from that tournament anyway. Trust me though, 24 looks great.
