Note: It's not a "Pro" Sportsman this year as it is a mix of pro athletes and entertainers. And I guess since it's a Monster Box only special it has no number either. EDIT: HOLY CRAP. @ Nagano, Shingo, Takeda Well that's a first for everything. And monster box only special? No other events? Cause it would really be interesting to see how they would fair in the other events.

I am really hoping that they do some other events other than just the monster box. I dont want it to just be the Ikeani show. Anyone know events or format?

There's a hint that the history special "may" be intermixed but at this time nothing is certain.

LOL I think at this point it's did he do a WR or not. I'm just wondering which body part Shingo is going to leave smeared all over the runway and/or the Monster Box I'm personally excited since it brings a new dynamic to an otherwise "okay" event. Now it's not about the event itself but the people in it that makes it interesting.

A good Monster Box competition is quite compelling and all you need to do to make a good Monster Box competition is have at least three quality competitors.
The best one I've seen is when Naoki Iketani and Tomoyuki battled it out in 2006. They went all the way up to 22 boxes (remember, the "world record" is 23) until Tomoyuki finally came up just short. And that was just a Geinojin battle.
This time Iketani is going up against two Olympic medalists (his brother and Leszek Blanik), two fairly credible guys in Daisuke Miyazaki and Wakky (personal bests of 20 and 19 respectively) and of course the All-Stars. Nagano has a gymnastics background, right? And Shingo did the long jump back in the day so he might, just might, have the proper timing to do it correctly.
But if I see Shingo doing the "I'm going to run really fast then shuffle my feet at the end" then he'll probably be the first one to run straight into the box.

Having had extremely limited knowledge of Sportsman I admit I didn't know about how close it was before with Iketani and Tomoyuki. I guess I will be benefiting from the history special since they will show the highlights that made past Sportsman's and ultimately the monster boxes so compelling. I've never seen past some youtube clips that (cough) someone (cough) provided

this will be fun to watch, but I wish there was more events, to see the others compete in, and also will there any americans, like bryan clay or paul terek or even major leaguers involved.
