I woke up this morning with an idea of how I would have done day 3 of ANW better (Not spoiling anything), so ideas began to snowball in my mind, and I decided I wanted to see how I'd design ANW. Mind you, this has TV/camera's in mind, so it's meant to be kinda dramatic. Obstacle-wise anyway.
Also, although I'm not spoiling what ANW did, you'll see similarities between my course and theirs. For their Day 1 & 2, I like what they did, so you'll see slight changes to keep it original.
-------------------------------------
Rules:
Video entry submission required. That way, each contestant is hand chosen, as well as has a "Player Profile" before their run.
Doesn't mean all 50 are serious contestants... this is still TV. Costumes are always fun, as well as those you just KNOW will fail.
Say, 50 contestants.
-------------------------------------
Stage 1: Elimination Round
Same as ANW. No time limit, but top 15 times move on. 8 obstacles.
Obstacles:
1.) Sextuple Steps, Authentic. (Honest sized gaps, and narrow planks. Nothing like how ANW or their fan event did.)
2.) Rope Swing into Tarzan Swing (Swing off the first rope, with just enough distance to grab a second rope. Build momentum to make the landing platform).
3.) Jumping Spider, Authentic. Trampoline jump, but horizontal wall-walk. Have a 5 foot gap from the end of the wall-walk to the platform, so you cannot just drop off.
4.) Traverse to Pipe-Slider. I learned through the Fan Event in LA, that there must be a separator before the pipe-slider, or contestants can just slide across. So, force them to jump onto a stationary pole, before grabbing the pipe-slider and sliding across. However, I like what ANW did, but can't spoil it. So imagine the kicker they included, as well.
5.)
6.) Warped Wall, Authentic. 13 foot wall with overhang.
Buzzer stops the time.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Day 2: Evil Salmon Ladder
This is the nasty design I woke up to this morning. I figure my idea keeps things simple yet dramatic for all audiences: Those at the show, and those watching on TV.
A 16 Rung Salmon Ladder. Rungs 6, 11 and 16 are 1.5 feet separated, while all others are 1 foot.
However, the purpose is not to make it to the top, but instead see how far contestants can climb in a short amount of time.
Point System: Each rung has a point value. The 1 footers are worth 1 point each, and the 1.5 rungs are worth 2 points each. There is a 3x multiplier for the first 7 seconds, 2x multiplier for the next 5 seconds, and everything after is 1x. Points are not awarded until both ends of the pole are secured on the rung. Contestants that reach the highest rung receive a 2x total score if reached within 30 seconds.
Due to the massive amount of water originally needed for the official salmon ladder, and the lack thereof for this obstacle, the obstacle will take place over one of those landing pads used in movies for those jumping out of buildings. There will be a retractable wooden plank for stepping up to the bar, which is pulled back right after the timer begins. All contestants will wear a helmet for obvious reasons.
Salmon Ladder walls will be 5 feet apart.
Highest 10 scorers move on.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Day 3: Final Stage.
Yes, yes. I know. The official 3rd stage is un-timed, but this is a Trial TO Sasuke, not Sasuke itself. Nonetheless, each contestant is timed just like Day 1. No countdown timer, but just a clock that shows how long it takes them to complete it. Top 10 times/distances (For those who get far but fail, provided less than 10 make it) go to Japan.
6 obstacles.
1.) Pipe Slider/Salmon Ladder. The overall pipe covers a distance of 20 feet across, but every 5 feet, the pipes move up 1 foot.
(Out of time, will complete more later.)
