Nice page scnoi. But I don't believe I see any info on Asano and Yamada's first meeting (wasn't Yamada's total 249 that day?).
I'm definitely interested in knowing what kind of penalties Akiyama committed.

They were form breaks (not knees touching the ground as it was said before - if they were he would have dropped to 0 on there as no other body part can touch the mat at any time during the counting). Seems he didn't get all the way up and all the way down and they docked his numbers for it (meaning they didn't count). It was a tie considering that Yamada ran out of gas at the end and Akiyama caught up fast. I think because he was docked and not counted for the ones he didn't finish I can see why he was angry that there was no rule already in place for ties and Yamada made the call (not TBS/M9). While it could be argued that the form breaks were enough to swing the vote away from Akiyama it was wrong of a) Yamada to make a call like that as a competitor b) very bad of M9/TBS to not be so forthcoming with rules and whatnot. Either way. The point is moot since it's well over.

I blame m9 over yamada for not having a tie breaker rule. Like seriously, why wouldn't they not have one?
It's either
Person A wins
Person B wins
Person A and B tie
It's strange to not think of the third scenario at all. Maybe Yamada was wrong, but I'm sure a lot of people would do the same in his situation. I'm not a competitive person so I'd probably accept the draw and call it a day, but I know plenty of people who are extremely competitive and would speak up in this situation.
Not saying he was right, just saying I can see why he spoke up.

Still doesn't make it right and even according the Japanese wiki.. what a lot of people didn't like was how cocky he got when he did get his way. He survived that round in a lot of people's eyes and had Akiyama not been hit severely with the faults he would have won (especially since he still holds the record which happened in the previous round). It was quite an uproar (for those who saw it) that a competitor did that in the field of play. I guess in sports you let your coaches and stuff deal with that. I know Akiyama was shocked that was happening and you can see the stunned look on his face. It is M9's fault that was ever in question - one of the big arguments with Banzuke actually but Yamada's action really did set him apart from everyone.. and not in a good way. Which would also explain why others had animosity against him even before Sasuke was a show. He's mellowed out over the years quite a bit. Still don't like him

Don't be a hater ;o
I still feel like the only competitor I don't like at all is Yukio,

Try finding the good in people ;D Unless it's Yukio, he's just a douche.

No spoilers, but I think Yukio took a step beyond a mere douche after the 24th tournament. If you've seen it, you know what I'm talking about.

I think poor Yukio is still hanging onto his Hand Walk I success. I'm joking about that, but he's gotta stop. Until he can actually beat the Octopus, he needs to keep quiet and be grateful for all his chances.

Him being so cocky makes him such a jerk (and that's saying this in mild terms) no matter his results. BTW, Mr. Octopus rules.
