Yesterday, I got an early birthday present (since my little brother already started opening it ), which is the Iron Gym. It allows you to perform 3 different types of pull-ups, 2 different types of push-ups, sit-ups, and this weird type of dips. If any of you are unfamiliar with this thing, here's the commercial advertising it: Yeah, I know the commercial is pretty stupid, but it does demonstrate the product...I guess. So, what is your opinion on using it? More importantly, have any of you guys (or gals) ever used it?

Yeah, I have one, although I don't think I use it like they want it used XD I usually jump from the forward parts to the middle part or going from the back forward (The curved part) to the forward parts on the other side. or holding onto the bars at the point at the wall as a motionless cliffhanger. and don't forget pipe slider jumps from a stationary bar XD.
BTW.. Am I the only one who noticed but does the guy in the commercial kind of look like Yamada Katsumi? XD
EDIT: Damn.. I wasted my 5200nd post....

My opinion is that it's useless as you can do all those exercises with things you find around the house, for free.
As for using it, no, I haven't, but I'm sure it's nice and strong and does what they say it does. It's just not required, like ab lounges or those ridiculous side crunching machine things that you kneel on while swinging your a** back and forth.
If it motivates you to train more, though, go for it. Use it. Most Sasuke trainees lack the crucial motivation.
Good luck!

I've got one. I got one, because my makeshift pullup bar was starting to break. And, I found it on sale for only twenty dollars haha. I only really use it for pullups though which is what I needed it for. I don't like doing dips on it too much, because you don't get the full range of motion like an actual dip. I don't do pushups on it either, because I can just do those on the floor. Sometimes, I'll hop around on it too using only my upper body just for fun haha.

Yeah, I think my mom got it for me for like $20-$30. Honestly, I wouldn't spend that much money on something like this, even though it is pretty fun to use.

I have the Iron Gym Xtreme, just because it didn't cost that much more than the regular, even if I don't really use the extra grips.
Sure you can do other things that work the same muscles, but they're still not pull-ups, and some people like pull-ups. Of course you can just go to a gym or a park or something. Ideally, I'd rather have some elaborate metal frame structure in my backyard to do pull-ups on and just climb all over.
Fortunately, we've had pretty decent weather for a few weeks now in this part of Texas, so it's not a bad time for outdoor stuff.

On that note, I'd recommend building a Salmon Ladder. It's fairly important to practice it and it doubles as a pull-up bar.

Make sure it's secure in the door frame; one of my friends has quite a story about that.

I'm considering getting one of these. Though the dips look completely pointless (I'm not really a fitness expert though)

They are pointless. There's practically no range of motion.
Like I said above, you don't need one of these and there's no reason to get one.

Well the thing is I don't really have anything I can use for a pull up bar, and this seemed like a good thing to use as it doesn't seem to do any damage to the door.

I agree completely with Oti on this one. I see this as nothing but a waste of money, and something that could possibly damage your door frame or your back if it comes off. I do all my exercise, including my various reps, in the big wide outside world. For pull-ups etc., it's just a matter of being creative. If you don't have a bar, use a tree branch, or the edge of a structure of some sort. That way you can practice variation of motion too. That, and the advert was just ridiculous; it had me cracking up. "Hey you! Wanna get ripped?!"

Yeah. I really have trouble believing the people who say they have NOTHING to do pull-ups on...

I don't have one of these, but I do have my own pull-up bar in my door frame. Yeah, I could go out in the open world and do pull-ups on a tree branch or just some random bar (which I do sometimes.) but just having it right there reminds me to do a few pull-ups before I go to school, etc. And it's pretty convenient when you do pull-ups as often as I do. If I didn't have one in my room, I honestly would probably do pull-ups like once every couple weeks or something like that. But yeah, that's my reason for having one. Not an Iron gym though.. Sorry. Similar topic.

Find a park or elementary school near your house . You can find bars anywhere. You don't need to buy anything to get a good work out in. I suggest you buy a weight vest later when you're able to easily do 20+ chin/pull ups correctly. www.youtube.com/user/colinDESU
