I recently have been thinking about something. Katsumi Yamada is called Mr. Sasuke for a reason. "But he can't even pass stage 1 anymore!" Okay, let's say that first stage doesn't exist. He's quite in shape, especially for his age standards. Maybe not as fast and agile as before, but he's still quite in shape. The question is: how would he do in the new second, third and even fourth stages? I say wouldn't do bad. I mean, in the last tournaments time wasn't a big problem in stage 2. I'd say he could pass downhill jump and metal spin, according on how he did on chain reaction in the past. For the rest of the obstacles, his muscles could do the rest, and in third stage too. And I'd say the same for Akiyama, plus he's younger that Yamada, he's still fast and agile, but I don't know if he could be able to do downhill jump and metal spin with his sight problems.
What do you think?

I could see him getting to the ascending Climb honestly.
And then get frustrated and confused about which path to take.

I think he's physically capable of beating the first two stages and possibly stage three, but he keeps making mistakes, kind of like Shingo.

he is, has always been, and will always be, a head case. he is physicly capable of beating stage one, two, three and possibly 4. but hes a nutjob. his metality was officallly destroyed in 19, then probably risen in 21 when he got to the WW, then detroyed further in 22. Quite a shame.

yeah, I agree. Thinking about it, maybe if he stopped working on those friggin replicas in his garden for six months he would beat stage 1 easily.

I think yamada can achive kanzen sheia if he comes back (reads topic) oh wait wrong yamada. I think katsumi yamada has the potential to reach stage three but will undoubtly get to fatiqued and fail between sch and hang climbing. The only thing that can stop him in stage 2 is the metal spin and he is physically able to complete stage 3 but due to mentally and fatique he will never see the final stage again

You're kidding! Yamada MIGHT pass the Salmon Ladder but he ain't passing the Metal Spin and he certainly isn't passing the Shin-Cliffhanger. *facepalms at all previous posters, cept Badalight*

I say Yamada can pass the salmon ladder. It's not too hard and doesn't he have his own? (Though, that hasn't helped him with the jumping spider)
The results for the salmon ladder are a bit less random the the JS. Anyone can fail the JS at anytime but if you're pysichlly capable of beating the Salmon Ladder, chances are you'll beat it unless you miss a rung or something and have to recover.
I can see the Cliff-hanger giving him troubles aswell but it's not a 0% chance of passing it.

yamada beat the cliff hanger at bug in miki Yeah I remember that it was a mini course they had the all stars except Bunpei try out. Combination of obstacles you could speed through but also with a mix of third stage obstacles. Akiyama- death by shin cliffhanger Shingo- death by shin cliffhanger Yamada- Clear Nagano- Clear Takeda- Clear Best time Takeda lol he made sure he beat Nagano's time.

He has a lot of upper body strength that will help him in stage 2 and 3 and he is a very fast rope climber so if he passes stage 1 expect yamada to achieve KANZENSEIHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And Yes I am talking about Yamada

If he passes stage 1, I see him going deep into Stage 3 depending on his 'condition' for the day.
Although 43 (44 now?), he still has enough strength to go far into the course. Sure he might fail JS and stuff, but the dude still can pass Shin-Cliffhanger (from everywhere I've seen) consistently, and I don't really see him failing Salmon Ladder

I still think Yamada can beat the entire course. If he can pick up the pace and clear the first stage, he's got a good chance of making it at least to the third stage. I think he can go all the way. Btw, it was at the 2008 Maguro festival that Yamada, Nagano, and Takeda beat the shin-cliffhanger. At the Bug in Miki event, none of the All-Stars beat the cliffhanger; Urushihara Yuuji did. Oh, and Yamada is still 43. He'll be 44 on October 22.

I think physically he is capable.. but his mind is his own worse enemy. So with that I'm still thinking he has no hope since he keeps psyching himself out.
