Just in case you want to stay up all night watching Japanese TV, I've perused the internets for a selection of programs you might be interested in. All times are Japan time and are subject to change, so adjust accordingly.
12:55PM, TV Asahi--Shinkonsan Irrashai! (Welcome, Newlyweds!)
Two freshly-married couples come to talk about their lives and make the male host fall down (It's his schtick.) Later, the couples compete in a lottery-style draw for prizes ranging from a honeymoon in Hawaii to a used Brillo pad. (:30)
1:25, TV Asahi--Panel Quiz Attack 25
Likely Japan's longest-running weekly quizzer with over 1700 episodes. 4 players of similar age compete for cash and prizes in a battle of knowledge and skill on a 5x5 Othello board. Only 12 have gotten a perfect score, but a high school student pulled it off just last month. (:30)
2:00, TBS--Sasuke Fall 2009 Navi
Amp yourself up with spoilers. (:60)
3:05, NHK--Autumn Grand Sumo Tournament: Final Day
It's been on ESPN, before. Now see it in its natural habitat. It's either that or golf. (2:55)
3:40, WOWOW--Leatherheads
A 2008 film about 1920's American football in Japanese. Starring George Clooney. (2:00)
5:00, TBS--Fullmetal Alchemist
Rider's 2nd favorite series produced through Studio BONES. (:30)
6:00, Fuji TV--Chibi Maruko-chan
One of Japan's anime institutions, starring a girl and her family. (:30)
6:30, Fuji TV--Sazae-san
Another one of Japan's anime institutions, starring a "traditional" wife and her family. For those wondering, other institutions include Crayon Shin-chan (though maybe not for much longer), Doraemon, Dectective Conan, and arguably Pokemon and One Piece. (:30)
7:00, TBS--New Face vs. Hero-Who will achieve total victory? Sasuke Fall 2009.
You should know the drill by now. If not, everyone else will be happy to tell you. (3:54)
Anyone who wants to add something from the world of foreign television can do so below.
