I was just watching some of the previous SASUKE competitions and I was thinking..what if there was no jump/gap after the Pipe Slider? Think of how many all-stars fell here. If they brought this back and replaced it with the current (and working) Final Ring...yikes!

We'd have at least 2-3 winners had that happened. And at least 1-2 instances where no one got past the first stage.
And face it. Final/Gliding Ring is staying. There's nothing wrong with it, Yuuji made the entire course look easy. We would be seeing a new grand champion had he been an above average rope climber seeing as he got about 5 feet from the buzzer.

IF the 'sometimes-gliding ring' worked properly in SASUKE 21, Nagano would likely have been champion again before Yuuji even got his chance.
