For this thread, pretend you are in 2012 and you just heard Sasuke is back from cancellation.
I think Nagano will make it back to Stage Three, surely 27 would give him a confidence boost after 3 Stage One fails. With the Jumping Spider gone, I can't see him failing anywhere else on Stage One
Takeda has been away for two years, but I think he will clear Stage One again. As for Stage Two, he failed the Salmon Ladder twice, but I think he would have surely trained for that thing. Otherwise, an easy trip to Stage Three, though he will most likely fail it again
Shingo has been struggling on Stage One, but I think in the best case scenario, he will clear. In Stage Two, assuming if he doesn't screw up like in 25, he easily clearing and failing Stage Three
I think Akiyama will make it to Warped Wall like he did in 24 and 25, I can't really see him failing early on Stage One. Yamada, I think will mostly time up on Stage One again.
I hope Lee makes it back to Stage Three, since his fail in 27 was a freak accident. I can't really see him failing Stage One again.
I hope Hashimoto makes it back to Stage Three, like Lee I can't see him failing early on the course.

I hope they don't force All Stars to retire after 28.

The problem with 28 even before the tournament had aired were that the marketing material just gave away the results weeks in advance.
The Shin Sedai were rebranded, including Asa who had no notable prior track record, as well as Kanno who'd had a fairly rough few tournaments since his Final run in 23, which kind of gave away that they were going to do well, and of course the four new members "just happened" to be the last four men standing. Similarly, Hashimoto, despite having almost achieved a second Final to his name in 27, wasn't included, also giving away the fact he was going to fail early, and what do you know, he did.
Similarly with the whole All-Star retirement. I'm fairly confident that had they actually done well, Inui would've massively downplayed the whole thing and edited the Navi such that said decision never existed, because Nagano reaching Stage 3 and then being forcefully retired would've yielded even more backlash than the decision alreaady had. The fact that Inui went ahead with marketing 28 as a "last stand" for the All-Stars through marketing definitely gave away to me that they were all going to fail Stage 1.
The thing is in retrospect I just find all of this hilariously cringe, mainly because none of the changes made for 28 stood the test of time. The retirement decision was reversed, the box lady and dinner were gone for the next tournament, etc. so I just laugh at how try-hard the tournament was from end-to-end, especially because said decisions completely missed the mark in terms of what Sasuke needed to revive itself from the ashes. Had these changes become more of a mainstay, I'd have a lot more negative sentiment towards 28 as an instigator of those changes.
This also isn't the only tournament where the Navi etc. has spoiled the results. 29 and 30 spotlighted Yusuke and Tomo respectively, both of whom also had no notable prior track records, thus also spoiling their breakout runs in those tournaments. Thankfully the Navis/YouTube material have been a lot better with regards to keeping the suspense up these days.

What was the dinner supposed to be about? Just a send off for the All Stars or would it have been a regular thing?

Ooh, does this mean ANW will be sending people to Japan after all? I wonder who the top 10 will be? I mean Levi has to be there, and Brian. Sucks for that Drew Drechsel kid though, he got hurt pretty bad and probably won’t recover in time. Seemed like a nice guy.
Also, I’m predicting Shingo shocks the world and gets back to the third stage. He’s due for a first stage clear, and as long as they don’t put any crazy obstacles in the second stage, I think he can clear that as well, as he’s only failed it 3 times ever (1 and 13, 25) and always due to freak accidents or mental lapses rather than lack of ability.
And of course, Mr. 100, King of Sasuke Nagano is absolutely getting back to the third stage. I think Sasuke 27 proved that reports of his demise were greatly exaggerated. He’s still the GOAT.

I think in my opinion, the Lady Table thingy was never meant to stay. Since that SASUKE is basically a Phoenix tournament, they just want to try something new. They probably had plans to scrap it after the tournament and the reception definitely ensure that happened.
