I think Inui gave female players more leeway compared to the Monster9 27 tournaments.
Personal opinion is maybe Jessie Graff is perfect in any era.

I think Inui gave female players more leeway compared to the Monster9 27 tournaments. Personal opinion is maybe Jessie Graff is perfect in any era. Define what you mean by "leeway". If you're referring to the time limit increase, then I refuse to believe that wasn't implemented to make sure Ayano clears. It can't be a coincidence that it was only when she started competing regularly that we got the massive time limit increases for female competitors, hitting up to 45 seconds extra in Sasuke 38. Not to mention that other international females like Jessie, Olivia, Steffie etc. clearly don't need such a considerable benefit to their chances of clearing the course. If you mean the number of female competitors, barring the international invites and celebrities then I disagree. We pretty much just have Ayano, a bunch of former/current pro athletes, then maybe Jessie, and that's it. I'm not really the biggest fan of how female competitors are handled on Sasuke, and don't understand Inui's seemingly incessant over-reliance on Ayano when she's cleared once in several attempts. There are two problems here: 1) unlike international shows, for a good 15 or so years, there was a separate female-only competition (Kunoichi). 2) the number of invites available for athletic females (discounting the idol members etc.) are almost non-existent. Number 1 means that for the longest time, we didn't get much interest from female competitors in Sasuke because they could viably do better on Kunoichi. Number 2 means that even for female competitors interested in competing on Sasuke, the motivation thus isn't there because the chances of them getting selected are almost zero. Compare this to international shows where we've had lots of athletic women treated the same way as men in terms of the course they run and the application process, and they've been forced to keep up with the standards of difficulty on the show which has culminated in competitors like Jessie, Flex Labreck, Megan, Olivia, Steffie etc. which have successfully been able to run with the men on multiple occasions. The Japanese females have spent a lot of their time training for a much easier course with a different skillset (e.g. more balance and less upper body) so by the time Kunoichi ended they were considerably behind the standards required by Sasuke and the international shows. While anyone who is potentially interested and capable will just get snubbed in favour of Ayano (again); good example being Hikari Izumi, as well as Mai Watanabe having been snubbed repeatedly despite her potential as a gymnastic performer. Personally I'm an advocate of allocating, say, 5 slots to genuine female hopefuls rather than pro athletes and have them run trials to show that they're capable of clearing Stage 1, because we need more presence than just Ayano who, frankly, has under-delivered in the majority of her attempts.

I have nothing against Ayano personally and I don't mind her being female rep, but I do mind her being the ONLY female rep that isn't a foreigner bar joke competitors like KAREN or Fuwa-chan. Of course you got some decent celebs but the odds of them clearing even with the time extension are 1 in 100 at best anyway.

Would they have done as great in a Shin SASUKE era tournament is what I was asking. Because the only female who passed stage 1 at that time could not even pass the first obstacle at stage 2 and that was in the second tournament.

They probably will do great in Shin-SASUKE. Maybe not until Third Stage like we get with Jessie, but First Stage is definitely clearable. As pointed above, women had to keep up to par with men in USA, so by the time they attempt SASUKE in Japan, they would have found it the same difficulty or even perhaps easier.

So i guess rn, the big 3 of female talent for SASUKE is Jessie, Olivia, and Ayano. I can totally see them being solid and consistent throughout Shin from 18-24. I can also maybe see at least one run in them where they make into the back half of the third stage in one of there runs.
However, I can also see them failing obstacles like Jumping Spider and especially the Metal Spin in a random tournament (Lee in 23 or Koji in 26) and going into Shin from 25-27, they're going as far as the Ultimate Cliffhanger at most. Jessie in particular has failed ANW's Ultimate Cliffhanger, not too sure about Olivia and I'm pretty sure Ayano has only ever practiced on variations of the UCCH/CLD. Though in SK27, the third stage was heavily modified so perhaps that tournament would be there best shot at beating the Ultimate Clifhanger, but I doubt they'd clear it in SK26 and especially in SK25.

Also, if Izumi Hikari can finally compete, She can do better than Oshima. Please make it comes true in 42!
